Velocity Air HVAC is a small Salem, Massachusetts shop where the reviews all lead back to one person: Neil McCann. Its own site describes heating, cooling, ventilation, maintenance, and emergency repair for both homes and businesses, and lists OSHA certification. The ratings line up unusually well wherever you look - Google shows a 5-star average from 26 ratings, Birdeye counts 29 reviews at the same score, and hvacservice.io independently reports 26 reviews, also 5 stars. That consistency runs across a review history stretching back to 2022, with no negative reviews turning up across 14 tracked ratings. In the last couple of months, one customer switching to a mini-split system pointed to Neil's attention to detail on the installation, and another - an 82-year-old homeowner who has hired many tradespeople over the years - described the replacement of a vintage AC condenser and evaporator coil with a new 2.5-ton unit as one of her best overall contractor experiences, completed on the schedule promised. Before calling, it's worth knowing this is a small operation - a business profile puts it at around four employees - so it's Neil and a small crew handling the work rather than a large outfit with deep bench strength. Review totals also shift a bit by platform, from 22 to 29 depending on where you look, which is typical when reviews are split across several sites rather than a sign of anything off. Velocity Air reads like the right call for a condenser swap, a mini-split install, or a diagnostic fix rather than a ground-up commercial build-out - the kind of work its recent reviews actually describe. Ask about scheduling if the job is urgent, since a small crew means less slack during busy stretches.

I had a great experience working with Neil on deciding best way to cool my house. Went with mini splits, and extremely happy with the installation. Neil is very professional, friendly, and has great attention to detail .

I'm 82 years old and during the many years of being a multiple homeowner and using various tradespeople across diverse skill sets, I can honestly say that Velocity Air and Neil McCann has been one of my best overall experiences. I have nothing but praise for his communication, professionalism let alone his high quality workmanship. I had to replace a vintage AC condenser and evaporator coil with a new 2.5 ton unit. The job was completed on schedule as promised. Also, what left me with an indelible impression is he is respectful of your property. Take it from an old-timer, I highly recommend Velocity Air of Salem for your next HVAC services.

Neil is a highly skilled HVAC technician, a great communicator/educator, and a transparent businessman. I've hired Neil on three separate occasions now, and each time I have been extremely impressed/satisfied with his services. I recently had to replace the rooftop AC unit in our Salem condo, and Neil helped me navigate the entire process, from sizing the unit so it fit through our rooftop access door, to coordinating an electrician & plumber when we ran into unforeseen curveballs. Neil's pricing is very fair, and he was able to fit me into his busy schedule despite having multiple other jobs happening concurrently. If you are looking for a top notch HVAC repair/installation company on the north shore, look no further than Velocity Air HVAC!

We’re new homeowners and discovered a basement return was pulling basement air into our living space. Neil from Velocity Air was patient and professional—he listened to our concerns, did a thorough inspection, measured pressures, and clearly explained our options. He fixed the issue on the spot by properly sealing the basement return.

As a parent of two little kids, air quality is of course important, and his calm, knowledgeable approach gave us immediate peace of mind. He was responsive, tidy, and never rushed. We’ll be using Neil/Velocity Air for regular HVAC maintenance and any future needs. Highly recommend!

Just had Neil come by yesterday per a Reddit recommendation and he was great. His pricing is reasonable, communication was easy (responds quickly to texts) and he explained everything so well. I’m a DIY person but my issue dealt with our mini split’s pressure being slightly low so it wasn’t something I felt comfortable addressing. I felt I could trust his diagnosis and felt good with the overall cost. Would highly recommend him!
