MRW Mechanical is a Marblehead HVAC contractor built around routine heating-and-cooling work for North Shore homes and businesses — furnace and boiler service, ductless systems, central air, and indoor air quality, plus Carrier equipment installation as a Factory Authorized Dealer. It's a small, owner-run operation under Matthew Waldman; the company's own site says about 15 years in business, Dun & Bradstreet records list it as a mechanical contractor since 2011, and a BBB filing instead puts its history at 28 years, so the exact founding date isn't settled across sources. Its reputation reads thin and genuinely mixed rather than clearly good or bad. Google shows a 3.5-star average from only eight ratings, and accounts across other sites swing between real praise — customers describing the technicians as professional, responsive, and dependable for ongoing HVAC upkeep — and real frustration over slow callbacks and follow-through on a job. A Better Business Bureau profile, where the business is not accredited and carries no rating, includes a customer account centered on delayed response. Elsewhere, one source describes a promising plan undercut by poor execution, while another characterizes the company as a consistent go-to for routine maintenance across multiple properties. Both threads show up often enough that neither looks like an outlier. Before booking, it's worth asking directly about current response times and how follow-up gets handled if something needs a return visit, since that's the recurring theme in the less favorable accounts. Its Massachusetts HVAC license (556-SM-B) is active, which is confirmed independently of anything the company claims about itself. MRW Mechanical suits a homeowner looking for a small, Carrier-focused shop for everyday heating and cooling work in the Marblehead area, but the review base is small and split enough that it's worth getting a clear scope and timeline in writing before committing beyond a single visit.

Excellent HVAC Service and Preparedness!<br>Matt from this HVAC company arrived right on time for our appointment. What started as regular maintenance quickly became a more involved job when he discovered hidden system filters that hadn't been replaced in a decade by the previous Heat Company. Fortunately, Matt was prepared and had the necessary parts on his truck! He seamlessly pivoted and took the extra time needed to complete the replacement on the spot. Highly professional and efficient service!

We have purchased 2 full units and within one year he kept on saying maybe next week I will make it out when we requested service for one of the non functioning units. A year later still has not made it out. We had to find a new company to service and order part which still isn't in. He could have helped us last fall and now still without air becuase of his passive communication and complete lack of ethical service to us.

Poor customer service , quality of service and timely service . It took several months to service out AC that was installed by them . After the service, although the AC worked the pump that was replaced continued to make a loud noise. Noticed the AC was leaking water and damaged our wood floor , had to call another company to fix . The pump was so poorly installed it had come apart therefore allowing water to leak into to our floor . In summary , Matt never took responsibility for his late and poor quality of service .

We called Matt over the recent frigid weekend when our furnace stopped working. He promptly responded to our call and was at our house within an hour, on a Sat no less! Matt fixed the problem in an expeditious manner and clearly explained details on the issue and how to rectify in the future. In a day and age where customer service is virtually non existent, MRW came through in a big way.
