Highlights
- On-time arrivals — recent Thumbtack reviews cite punctual, communicative technicians
- Long track record — family-run since 1998, BBB accredited with an A+ rating
- Verified plumbing license — Thumbtack confirms an active MA license and passed background check
- Upsell pressure — one reviewer called an $8,000 boiler pitch unreasonable
- Thin outside ratings — Google and Birdeye each show just one review, conflicting
Addario's is a family name on the North Shore's plumbing and heating scene — the company says it was started in 1998 by Steven J. Addario, Jr., with the family name going back to his grandfather Carmen Addario's business dealings in the 1960s and '70s. It's based in Wilmington and says it covers Peabody along with dozens of other Massachusetts towns, plus parts of New Hampshire and Maine, for plumbing, heating, cooling, and electrical work. The clearest read on actual customers comes from Thumbtack, where 120 ratings average 4.2 stars and the license on file checks out as an active Massachusetts plumbing license with a passed background check. This year's reviews are mostly positive: customers in May 2026 describe technicians — Matthew and Steve among them — arriving on time, walking through the job, and explaining the work clearly. The exception is a February 2026 review that called an $8,000 boiler-maintenance pitch "laughable" and unreasonable; the same reviewer still got the underlying problem fixed for about half that price and said they'd call Addario's again for an emergency, but the upsell pitch is the sore spot worth asking about. Its Better Business Bureau file backs up the longevity — accredited with an A+ rating and 27 years in business on record — though even there the latest reviews are a mixed bag, including one titled simply "BEWARE!" next to positive ones. Outside review counts elsewhere aren't worth leaning on: Google shows a single 1-star rating and a separate site shows a single 5-star rating, which cancel each other out rather than confirm anything. Addario's looks like a reasonable call for routine plumbing and heating work in its service area, given the verified license and multi-decade history — just get any bigger-ticket repair recommendation, like a boiler overhaul, priced and explained in writing before signing on.

The AI crap was hilarious and useless until you get a real person. The communication is good after that. The $99 diagnosis fee is reasonable and they did a good job. The charges were unreasonable and they were trying to sell me a $8000 maintenance on a boiler. That's laughable. But I got someone to fix the problem for half the price and agreed to flush the boilers (3) and service them for $1200. But I do recommend them for an emergency repair as they showed up on time.
