- Complex heating fixes — diagnosed three faulty zone heads in a century-old multi-zone system
- Honest recommendations — skipped selling a pump a customer didn't actually need
- Named technicians — reviewers repeatedly credit Connor, Paul, and Vinny for explained work
- Estimate fees — a recent review cited a $95 charge for an in-person quote

- Return visits — a valve fix needed a follow-up for a screech it introduced
Trethewey Brothers has been running out of the same Roslindale address long enough that whole households call them for decades — one reviewer says 32 years, another 26, another says 30-plus. On Google, 263 ratings average 4.7, built on a base of 190 reviews collected since 2021 across four different sites, deep enough that the pattern in it is worth trusting. The last six months alone brought 35 reviews with only two real complaints. What repeats across them is heating and plumbing trouble handled the same day it shows up: a multi-zone system in a 104-year-old Victorian lost heat to one room, and the crew traced it to three faulty zone heads before the day was out. A furnace that died the night before a major storm got a callback and a technician dispatched before the next morning. One customer asked them to check whether a hot-water recirculator pump needed replacing, and they were told it didn't — a small moment, but the kind that shows up more than once in how people describe being dealt with here. Pricing is the one place recent reviews push back. A customer living less than a mile from the Roslindale office was charged $95 just for an in-person estimate, with a warning that the price could climb if the job needed more than planned. In a separate case it did: a shower repair ran longer and cost more than quoted after the crew arrived without the right part. A different valve fix needed a second visit three weeks later to chase down a new screech the first repair introduced. For an emergency call — a dead furnace, a stuck valve, a fixture on its way out — the reviews describe a crew that shows up and gets it fixed, often with a named technician explaining the work along the way; Connor, Paul, and Vinny come up more than once. Worth asking upfront what the estimate fee covers and when it turns into an extra charge, especially for anything beyond a straightforward repair.

T-bros came right away and the fellows were experienced, kind and had a good sense of humor. Wish I had called them 2 years ago instead of living with a broken guest bathroom!!

I had your employee come to fix a leak from the hot water shower valve back in February. 3 weeks later I requested someone to return to fix the same hot water turn off because of a loud screech that happened when it was fixed the first time. Your employee came and couldn’t fix the problem. Fast forward 4 months I called for the compression washer to be replaced again because it failed. I considered calling Sila for my plumbing needs but didn’t. I. Stay with you because of the trust I continue to have
