Josh Amsler and Ray Jackson do the actual inspecting at Jackson Home Inspection, and the same two names turn up review after review — this reads like a two-inspector shop, not a franchise, and homeowners across the North Shore ask for them by name. The company says it was founded in 1988 by Ray Jackson, a former construction-business owner and licensed builder and carpenter, and now serves homebuyers across Massachusetts and New Hampshire; office staff Karen Dahood and Brenda Boucher round out the team, and Brenda's scheduling gets its own steady stream of mentions. On Google, the company sits at 4.9 stars across 88 ratings, and 12 of the 13 reviews posted in the last six months are five stars. Recent buyers describe Josh and Ray walking them through a house room by room, separating real defects from ordinary wear, explaining fixes in plain terms, and turning the written report around the same day or the next morning. One buyer used Jackson for a third property this spring and said Josh still catches things they'd have missed; another had Josh inspect a house in Middleton and got a step-by-step account of every issue found before closing. In one case, the team went back for a second visit within days after the inspector couldn't initially get at part of the roof. The BBB lists the company as A+ rated, though not accredited, and puts it at 36 years in business. One recent review breaks that pattern: the buyer said the inspection itself was thorough, but their report was mistakenly emailed to an unauthorized third party — exposing their personal information — which held up their own copy by two days during a live purchase, and they said the company told them similar mix-ups had happened before. Worth confirming before booking: how the office verifies report delivery, given that account. The MA and NH home-inspector licenses listed on the company's own site are self-reported here, not independently checked against a state registry. For a routine pre-purchase inspection in the North Shore area or southern New Hampshire, the volume and consistency of the Google history make Jackson a reasonable call — just double-check who your report gets sent to.

Highly recommend! As a first-time homebuyer, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. They were professional, knowledgeable, & genuinely kind. Brenda/Josh went above and beyond to help me meet a tight deadline, and took the time to explain everything in a way that was easy to understand. I really appreciated their expertise and the care they put into the entire process.

Josh did a thorough job during the inspection, and I was satisfied with the quality of the inspection itself. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with the company's handling of my inspection report afterward. My inspection report was mistakenly sent to an unauthorized third party instead of being sent to me. The report contained my personal information! Because of this error, I did not receive my report for approximately two additional days during a time-sensitive home purchase. I contacted the company to report the issue and was informed that similar mistakes had occurred previously. Later I sent a formal written complaint email on 6/20/2026, requesting an explanation and reimbursement of the $675 inspection fee. As of the date of this review, I have not received any response. Mistakes can happen, but how a company responds to them matters. I hope the company improves its handling of customer information and customer communication in the future.

He took the time to answer all of our questions and made sure we fully understood his findings throughout the inspection process. His attention to detail and willingness to explain everything gave us great confidence and peace of mind. He was an absolute pleasure to work with, and we highly recommend Jackson Home Inspection to anyone in need of a reliable and trustworthy home inspection company!

We've used Jackson Home Inspection for three properties now. I have a tremendous amount of confidence in Josh and the rest of the team at Jackson Home Inspection. Josh found many things that we had overlooked as we went through the house.

I highly recommend Josh to anyone purchasing a home. I have known Josh since 2020, when he assisted me with the purchase of my first home. The experience was so positive that I did not hesitate to use his services again for my most recent home inspection in June 2026. Josh is extremely knowledgeable and thorough when it comes to home inspections. His attention to detail is second to none, and he takes the time to explain every issue, concern, and recommendation in a way that is easy to understand. One thing I have learned over the years is that when Josh tells you to do something, listen to him—he knows exactly what he is talking about and always has a good reason behind his recommendations. His expertise, professionalism, and commitment to protecting his clients' interests provide tremendous peace of mind during what can often be a stressful process. I am grateful for his guidance on both of my home purchases and would confidently recommend him to anyone looking for a top-notch home inspector. He is an expert matter, he is the best.
