"I wish I could buy a house every week so I could get more inspections." That is a June 2026 customer of MKC Associates, and it captures what this Watertown firm is really selling: not a report, a lesson. Across 1,313 Google ratings — every one of them a five — the word that keeps coming back is not fast or cheap. It's explained. This is a bench, not a solo operator. Tom Berthiaume, Miner Sparks, Jack Mason, Rob Amaral, Morgan, Jeff and Patrick all get named individually, and Beth in the office turns up in reviews about scheduling. Buyers' agents send work here: a June 2026 realtor wrote that MKC sits at the top of their recommendation list because the inspectors are consistent and take an educational approach. The accounts are specific about pace and depth. A May 2026 client said Miner spent four hours going through every part of a house. Another that month described a two-hour inspection covering structure — basement, walls, roof — plus electrical, plumbing and heating. A March 2026 buyer said Tom inspected two homes for them, realized afterward he had missed a backyard shed on the first, and drove back the next morning to do it. An April 2026 reviewer said every outlet was tested and every window checked. Reports come quickly and read well — same day in one May 2026 case, the next day in another, with photographs — and several buyers said the level of detail made writing the seller-request list painless. The scope runs past standard purchase inspections: lead inspections, warranty inspections, new-construction walkthroughs, and exterior-only surveys covering roofing edges, siding, gutters and foundation. Now the two complaints, because they point in opposite directions and both matter. In June 2026 a client said the report on their property at 35-37 Haskell Street, inspected that March, failed to identify or clearly document visible structural problems — the most serious charge an inspection firm can draw. In March 2026 a different reviewer, writing about "the Buyer" in the third person, called another inspector an alarmist whose findings were couched in generalities recommending further investigation, and whose inspection ran far too long. Those are the two failure modes of this trade, one from each end, attached to two different inspectors among the dozen named here. Most clients land squarely in between and say so — "detailed information without being alarmist" is close to a stock phrase in these reviews. One June 2026 client did note their inspector seemed to rush toward the end. Which makes the practical advice about the individual. This is a large firm with a deep, current and remarkably consistent record — 102 written accounts in the past six months alone — but on the day you are hiring one person for three hours. Ask who is assigned, and if you have a specific worry, structural, lead paint or otherwise, say so when you book.
Very professional and very detailed
Tom came out to do a full inspection of our home for a warranty inspection. He was thorough and answered all our questions in the 2.75 hours he was here. Friendly attitude and was mindful of our needs. Seemed to rush towards the end, but overall good experience. Would recommend.
We have used MKC Associates twice for inspections. Both times they were prompt, thorough, and highly professional. They are excellent inspectors who provide detailed information without being alarmist.
Miner was great! He walked us through the whole home inspection process and answered all of our questions. He took a lot of notes and pictures along the way, and thoroughly explained what to look out for and made light recommendations. We received a comprehensive report the next day. Overall, we were very happy with the service that was provided and Miner was super pleasant to work with!
Jack was extremely knowledgeable and helped me learn more about my new construction home!
