CRN Plumbing has been run out of Saugus by Ron Masse since 1984, formerly based in nearby Wakefield, and the plumbing, heating, cooling, gasfitting, electrical, and drain-cleaning work covers Saugus, Danvers, Chelsea, Peabody, Revere, Rockport, and Beverly by the company's own account. One name keeps showing up in the last six months of reviews: Hugo. He ran new gas lines for a fireplace insert and stove in April, adjusted a water heater in February, diagnosed and fixed a leaking toilet in the same visit in late February, and returned to a commercial client, Air Essentials at Logan Airport, in March to swap a coffee-machine filter system. None of the 13 reviews posted since January describe a problem. That recent stretch sits on top of a longer history and a Google average of 4.6 stars from 65 ratings, giving the company more of a track record than a newer plumber would have. It isn't spotless everywhere: a Better Business Bureau reviewer says CRN never closed out the permit on a 2019 furnace installation, and HomeAdvisor's listed 3.8-star average trails Google's noticeably. The company's Massachusetts plumbing license (13481-PL-M) is active, and BBB has accredited it with an A+ rating since 2018. For a faucet, water heater, or gas-line job in the Saugus area, the recent reviews are the ones to trust. For anything that needs a permit — a furnace or heating-system replacement — it's worth asking directly how CRN handles filing and closing it out before work begins.

CRN Plumbing was honest, punctual, reliable, efficient, and prompt. I needed two gas line extensions branched off an existing gas line to service a new gas insert fireplace and a new gas stove. When they arrived they quickly assessed what needed to be done and began work. Hugo, the lead of the 3 man crew did a fantastic job of keeping me informed as he was doing the work and having me periodically inspect the work as he was completing it. The other two men, Lewis and Kenny were both diligent hard workers as well.
I would highly recommend CRN for any future gas or plumbing work that I need.

CRN Plumbing has been a solid HVAC company. We've used them before and will continue to use them. They are trustworthy and do quality work. Our service tech, Hugo, was on time, respectful, and communicative.

Hugo, from CRN Plumbing of Saugus, did an absolutely fantastic job. He was kind, professional, thoughtful, detailed, and he listened! We had a very unusual problem. We had water cause a crack in our pantry ceiling after 14 years without any water problem. we fixed and patched the ceiling, assuming it was from water on the floor from above when we had visitors who got the floor wet in the upstairs bathroom. in the summer of 2025 we had more people use the upstairs bathroom and again we saw water marks and cracking on the ceiling above and exactly the same spot that we had seen water marks in April 2025.The ceiling was opened, it was found that there was an abandoned vent pipe in that area. This was a particularly unusual, and difficult plumbing mystery to resolved, since we first saw the water in April 2025 when people use the bathroom upstairs, and we had the ceiling fixed in the pantry, and then again in December when people use the upstairs bathroom, the ceiling leaked again.
Hugo went into the crawlspace above the garage, and found that a vent pipe had not been correctly installed and had broken. He checked all the plumbing related to the upstairs bathroom as well, and he finished his work in an hour and a half, which was remarkable.

We had a different Plumber come last week, and was charged $400 for travel time and approximately an hour and 20 minutes of assessment time in the house. He was going to come back with an apprentice) and go into the crawlspace above this area, to further assess and resolve the problem. it was estimated that that would cost somewhere between $ 1500 and $3000. since we did not feel very confident in what was happening with the first Plumber, we called CRN.

Kim, in the office, and Ron, the owner, couldn’t have been nicer, better communicators, or more professional.

My husband said that with Hugo and CRN plumbing, we should make today National Plumbing Day! We are thrilled.
