Universal Flooring & Carpets is Nor Bimbatti's shop off Route 28 in Salem, NH — an owner-run flooring store that both sells and installs. Bimbatti, originally from Brazil, has been at this since 2000 and, by his own account, still comes out to measure floors himself. It's a full-service store: carpet, hardwood, luxury vinyl, tile, and custom area rugs, with a showroom of more than a thousand samples. On Google the shop carries a 4.8 from 22 ratings, and the Better Business Bureau lists it at A+ (though it isn't BBB-accredited, which many established shops aren't). The reviews that exist tend to center on the same things: a punctual crew, accurate material estimates, and clean hardwood and carpet installs, with several customers singling out Bimbatti's hands-on involvement. One number worth weighing against the rest: Yahoo's listing shows a 3.5 across 17 reviews, noticeably lower than Google's 4.8. That gap doesn't square neatly, so it's worth reading a spread of recent reviews yourself rather than taking any single platform's average at face value. Because this is a store as much as an installer, be clear up front about scope — whether you're buying material, labor, or both — and confirm the installation crew and timeline for your specific job. For a Salem-area or Northern-Massachusetts homeowner who wants to see and feel a wide range of flooring in person and have the same shop install it, this is a reasonable, long-established option; just pin down the quote and schedule in writing.

I can't say enough about my experience with Universal Flooring and Carpets. First I'll start with the selection. I went there specifically for Mirage Hardwood flooring because they were one of only a couple of authorized dealers in the area. But from the looks of the show room I'm sure everyone would find what they were looking for. So much to choose from! The owner, Nor Bimbatti was a funny old school independent business owner who was extremely responsive and helpful with my installation concerns. I had a curved transition that needed to abutt tile and didn't want a transition strip like a couple of other installers suggested. He was confident his team could handle it and that they did. About the guys... There were 4 and they were EXCELLENT! Got the job done quickly and efficiently and we're great with all the furniture (3 rooms!). I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Universal Flooring.

I am very happy with the work that Nor's crew did. Nor told me it would be a one day job and his crew arrived when they said they would and didn't leave until the job was complete. Nor was very accurate with how much material to order. He gave me good guidance, was very easy to work with, he communicated well and his crew represented the company well. They worked hard, worked clean and did an excellent job. I like it when people keep to their word and do what they say they will do. Thank you!
