Twice, Northern Tile Works has been the second contractor called. In an October 2021 review a homeowner described a walk-in shower whose previous installer had pitched the floor wrong, so water pooled at the side instead of running to the drain; Alex took up the old tile, re-pitched the mortar bed and re-cut a complex geometric pattern to fit. In September 2022 another customer hired him to repair a bathroom job that had gone wrong. That is a particular kind of reputation to have in tile. The shop sits at 84 Pond Street in Stoneham and works Boston and the towns around it, installing ceramic tile, kitchen backsplashes, mosaic and terrazzo with tile setters and stone masons on staff. Google carries 50 ratings averaging 5.0, and the forty written accounts run from 2021 to this year. Waterproofing keeps coming up. A February 2026 customer whose shower waterproofing had failed said Alex found a fix that avoided demolishing and re-tiling the whole enclosure, and kept them updated daily until it was finished. A May 2024 client with a bad shower leak had every tile removed and the job rebuilt, with a marble piece suggested for the niches. Bigger work lands the same way: a November 2025 floor-to-ceiling bathroom with a heated tile floor and, in that reviewer's words, lots of sloping angles and edges; a January 2025 project in Newton for a designer-developer covering two bathrooms, a laundry room with a dog wash station, backsplashes, and kitchen and mudroom floors laid over radiant heat. The small jobs read the same. In October 2025 a customer had difficult terracotta pulled from a 200-square-foot kitchen and replaced inside four business days. In February 2025 another had a basement laundry room tiled with so little waste that two full boxes of tile went back to the store. Quick text replies and a site cleaned at the end of each day turn up across the years. Two things to weigh. Everything written about this company sits on Google, with no second platform to cross-check against, and its Houzz page is marked a suspended profile carrying no reviews. And this is a tile and stone specialist rather than a general remodeler — several accounts describe toilets and vanities going in alongside the tile, so pin down before you book whether your job includes the plumbing and fixture work or only the tile itself.
