Twenty reviews across Thumbtack and Google, and not one of them is below five stars. That is the first thing you notice about J.L.Hardwood Flooring, a three-person crew working out of Revere under Erick Cea, who has passed Thumbtack's background check and held Top Pro status in 2023. The work is hardwood, start to finish: installing new floors, sanding and refinishing old ones, staining, and stair treads. Its Thumbtack listing claims 34 years in business, and the directory pages that carry the company put the number at 33 — either way, this is a long-running outfit rather than a new name. What customers write about, over and over, is the finish and the cleanup. Praise clusters on careful sanding, thorough dust control, crews arriving when they said they would, and prices people call reasonable. That pattern holds from 2023 through this spring, and Thumbtack's own breakdown singles out work quality, professionalism and punctuality. Nothing negative has surfaced anywhere. Two things to sort out on the call. First, Thumbtack currently marks the company as unavailable for floor installation or replacement, so confirm they are actually taking installation work before you plan around them — refinishing appears to be the open lane. Second, reviews name two different people doing the work, Erick and Jeff, so ask who will be on your job and who runs the sanding. The review count is respectable but not deep, and it is concentrated on one platform. That is worth keeping in mind: the pattern is consistent and clean, but it rests on a modest number of jobs rather than hundreds. If you have a worn hardwood floor or staircase in the Revere and north-of-Boston area and you care about a dust-controlled refinish, this is a reasonable shortlist call. Confirm current availability, get the sanding and coat schedule in writing, and verify licensing and insurance yourself before booking.

Jeff's meticulous attention to detail and extremely high quality workmanship transformed an old worn out staircase into an actual work of art. He did a fantastic job at staining the wood along with a very thorough vacuuming. He will be coming back to do more projects for us.

Totally recommend this company. Nowadays is so hard to find a good contractor and it is such a relief when you find one. The guys of JL flooring did an amazing job in our house. Fair price, excellent communication, punctuality and excellent work.
