Walsh Brothers is a Boston construction management firm built for large, complicated jobs — hospital wings, research labs, academic buildings, historic restorations — rather than the typical single-family remodel. The company describes itself as a fourth-generation, family-run business led by the Walsh family, tracing back to 1901, and points to a National AGC safety award as trade recognition. Online, the headline numbers look strong: 4.9 out of 5 across 30 Google ratings, echoed by outside directories quoting the same 4.9-star average. But the substance behind those stars is thin. One five-star post just praises the company for "keeping the country respected and free," with nothing said about any actual project. The only review from the last six months — a one-star complaint from February 2026 — isn't about a job either: it describes a Walsh Brothers employee having a loud personal phone call in a public waiting room, disruptive enough that several nearby customers got up and left. That leaves the company's Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor license, which is verified active, and its long history as the sturdier ground to stand on. Even the history has a wrinkle: Walsh Brothers' own site and its LinkedIn page put the founding at 1901, but the Better Business Bureau's file lists the business as started in 1954, putting years in business at 72 rather than 125. The company is not BBB-accredited, and BBB says it doesn't have enough information on file to issue a rating. Before hiring, it's worth asking directly for recent, relevant project references rather than leaning on the online reviews, since almost none of the visible ones describe finished work. For a large-scale institutional, historic, or complex commercial project in the Boston area, Walsh Brothers' licensing and long operating history are worth a closer look — just confirm the specifics of any given job, and the actual years of continuous operation, directly with the company.

I'm sitting in a car dealership waiting room listening to a man talking on his mobile phone about "a job" they are working on. (Of course I rode them hard). Four people got up and walked out already as nobody wants to listen to a business call we don't need to know about. He is wearing a Walsh brothers hoodie and has a Walsh brothers sticker on his laptop. Teach your employees common sense and respect for others space. The dealership should provide a space for customers who want to work while they wait for their car. Both guilty imo.
