The Granite Place is a stone shop, not a remodeler — and the distinction matters when you're deciding who to call. From a showroom and production facility at 5 Waltham Street in Wilmington, it cuts and installs granite, quartz, marble, quartzite and soapstone countertops, along with the edge profiles and sinks that go with them. Jonathan daCosta and Carol Gomes founded the company in 2013 and describe it as family-owned with more than 15 years in the trade behind them; a local news site covered the ribbon cutting at the Waltham Street building in September 2021, with state and town officials on hand. Two installer names carry the reviews. Through a run of 2022 write-ups, Frank and Rodrigo turn up again and again — punctual, unhurried, cloth liners down on new wood floors, the room left clean. The showroom side gets named just as often: Larissa, Scarlet, Yasmin, Carla, Eduarda. A customer choosing granite in October 2024 said she never felt rushed or pressured, and a 2023 shopper who came in for a fireplace hearth and didn't find the color they wanted still called the salesperson honest about it. Speed is a theme. A 2022 customer got a same-day appointment and had counters in within ten days; a 2023 reviewer went from stone choice to template to install in under two weeks. A 2022 homeowner who only needed an undermount kitchen sink reattached had a three-person crew in and out in about 45 minutes. The other side is worth reading closely. In September 2024, a customer wrote that quotes came out very differently depending on who requested them — a kitchen company they were working with was quoted around $10,000 — and left one star, while still calling communication good and the staff friendly. In March 2026, someone after a smaller piece for a vanity and bathtub deck, with no budget limit, was told the company couldn't assist, and left two stars. A February 2024 post on experience.com called the workers loud and noisy and warned readers off the business entirely. The pattern: the fabrication and installation draw steady praise, and the friction sits around quoting and small jobs. This is a shop built for full countertop projects — its own Procore profile lists 10 to 50 employees and average contract sizes of $100,000 to $1,000,000 — which fits a small vanity piece not getting traction. Call them for a full countertop replacement in granite, quartz or marble, and expect the install crew to be the strong part. Get your quote in writing and in your own name rather than through a kitchen company or designer, ask up front whether your piece is big enough for them to take on, and check the geography — the Procore listing names Boston, Burlington, Framingham and Hudson, MA, plus Hudson, NH.
“Loud noisy workers. Truly and utterly out of touch with reality. Will waste your time and money. Ignore all other reviews and protect your assets from this disrespectful business.”
“On Monday, September 27, 2021, state and town officials joined Wilmington/Tewksbury Chamber of Commerce Directors at an extravagant celebration and ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the opening of The Granite Place, Inc. at 5 Waltham Street in Wilmington.”
“Great install on a huge bar at our brewery last Spring and I just had a large repair around my sink that came out perfectly. Really enjoy working with the team and the installers are top notch.”
I guess ok, but I needed a smaller piece for vanity and bathtub deck and I had no budget restrictions. But they were unable to assist me.
Extremely professional, with top-quality craftsmanship. Their meticulous attention to detail, combined with a welcoming family-oriented approach, makes every project seamless and stress free.
JUST had my beautiful, new, granite countertop installed from The Granite Place! It looks gorgeous! I worked with Carla who could not have been nicer! She gave me her full attention and was so helpful in making my decision about which granite to choose! I never felt rushed or pressured. The measurer and the install team were very friendly and professional. I had gone to 3 other places but honestly the service and results I got at The Granite Place were by far the best!
I recently remodeled my bathroom and hired The Granite Place to install a new vanity top and some niche shelves. The whole process was so easy and it looks amazing! I love my new bathroom! From the start Scarlet and Anni helped me select the perfect quartz that complimented with the vanity color and the tile floor. They walked me through all the small details and helped me make decisions. Yasmin helped coordinate the templet and installation. She went the extra mile to expedite the installation. From templet to install was less then a week, it was much faster then I expected! During the templet Bruno did a great job helping me figure out what I wanted for over hangs on the top and niche shelves and the size of the radius corners etc. He reviewed everything on his tablet to ensure it was exactly what I wanted. The install went so smooth. Elso and his helper, showed up promptly and worked very efficiently. They did an excellent job. If you need a counter top for your kitchen or bath I highly recommend The Granite Place. They have a wide selection of various types of slabs and remnants. Everyone is professional and highly skilled. They did a wonderful job! Thanks so much! Maria C
Communication is great and they are very friendly, however their quotes are vastly different depending on who they are for. A kitchen company we were working with requested a quote and it came to around 10k, subsequently we decided to go with a different kitchen option, so we followed up and requested a quote directly - they quote us 17k for the exact same material, design, square footage, etc. Basically if you are not in the inner circle you are overcharged massively. That prompted us to reach out to few other places for quotes and all of them ranged from 6k to 8k. Do your homework before overpaying!!!
