Tellez Plastering

Under six hours. That is what a dining room wall wrecked by an ice dam took this April — demo, new drywall, plaster, curing and paint — and the thing the homeowner led with afterward was that dust was nonexistent, because the crew isolated the area first. Tellez Plastering works out of East Boston under Pedro Tellez, whose name turns up in most of the reviews. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration is active, the state certifies the company as a Minority Business Enterprise through May 2028, and BBB grades it A+. The bread and butter is water damage: a ceiling that stains through fresh paint, a wall that has to come out and go back. Customers describe the whole sequence handled by one crew — cut out the failed section, hang and plaster new board, then paint the full ceiling so texture and color match what sits next to it. A customer in April had rugs and furniture moved out, the work area sealed, the place cleaned and the furniture put back where it started. The finishes get described the same way over and over: smooth, uniform, no visible patch. In a July 2025 review, a customer who had two ceilings done said the crew explained the work, made recommendations and finished as agreed. Speed is part of the appeal. In a February 2026 review, a homeowner with water-damaged bedroom walls said the call was answered immediately, the wall was rebuilt the next day and painted the following Monday. Not everyone came away as pleased. A March 2026 Angi reviewer gave three stars with nothing more than "not the best, but okay." And in a September 2018 review, a customer said the replacement ceiling came out with lumps and cracks, questioned whether the cracking traced back to skimcoating over the old popcorn texture, and ended up hiring a different plasterer. The Angi and HomeAdvisor averages — 4.7 across 18 ratings on each — sit under the 5.0 from 11 Google ratings. For patching, plaster, ceilings and drywall, especially after a leak, this is a small outfit that shows up quickly and cleans up behind itself. Pin down in writing how far the repainting extends, since matching an old ceiling usually means painting the whole thing.
