Sylvia Electrical Contracting has been operating in Peabody for 51 years, according to its Better Business Bureau profile, which also gives the business an A+ letter grade — though it has never sought BBB accreditation. It's hired for standard residential, commercial, and industrial wiring work: panel upgrades, and power, heat, data, and communication lines, per its own site and several independent directories. Its review history is thin but generally favorable. Google shows 4.2 stars from 9 ratings, and Angi shows 4.4 from 8 reviews spanning 2009 to 2015. Most of that history is positive on professionalism and responsiveness, but two of the eight Angi reviews — both rated 3.0 — describe real friction: one customer cited a meter installation delay and unexpected costs, another described a contentious job with repeated failed inspections and specific workmanship defects. Independent listing sites — BestProsInTown, BusinessYab, OpenGovNY, TrustAnalytica, Procore, and others — consistently place the business at the same 611 Lowell St address and phone number, which at least confirms a stable, long-running operation rather than a fly-by-night one. Worth asking about before booking: one directory claims the same 9 Google reviews average 4.9 rather than the 4.2 shown on Google itself, so it's worth checking Google directly rather than trusting an aggregator's number. And since the newest verifiable reviews run only through 2015, it's fair to ask for references from recent jobs rather than leaning on the older history alone. This reads as a long-tenured, small electrical shop suited to standard residential panel and wiring work, with a decent but not deep review record — worth a call to confirm current availability and get a firm quote before committing.

Exceptional. You won’t be disappointed for any of your electrical needs.

This man always works with me. He gets the job done and his prices are more than reasonable. He gets busy sometimes and I will call other electricians. Everytime I do it never works out. Either they try to charge me my house or what they say they need to do doesn't add up. This election is the only one I know that also covers the wholes back that he puts in the wall or ceilings. Love him and I will be his customer until he goes out of business.

Snow came and the new meter was not put in for months. There were some faults with the wiring and I ended up with expensive bills.

I couldn't be happier with the quality of work on what was a challenging job. They have ample experience with K&T, were on-time and very professional.

Steve came out same-day to quote a pool electrical hookup, spent a lot of time discussing the project, arrived promptly with his assistant, and both were professional, cooperative, honest, and did excellent work. Price came in under budget. Would gladly hire again.
