D. Reed Electric hasn't picked up a bad Google review in years: 134 ratings, all five stars, and the pattern holds through the most recent stretch too, with 17 reviews in the last six months and none of them negative. Daniel Reed has run the Hingham-based company as its president since March 2021, and the calls keep coming from both homeowners and other contractors. General contractors working the South Shore mention hiring him project after project; one Boston-area GC calls his trade work meticulous, and another has used him across attic renovations, basement projects, and full bathroom remodels for the electrical piece of each job. The jobs described lately range from small to intricate. One homeowner had him hang a large, complicated chandelier along with several Visual Comfort flush mounts. Another had him wire around an active entryway demolition, adding lighting recommendations along the way. A third called him in after a cold snap exposed problems with a new home's baseboard and radiant heat wiring. Simpler calls, like swapping a bedroom ceiling fan switch, replacing first-floor outlets, or upgrading a panel, get the same response: reviewers note that estimates matched the final invoice, with no surprise line items. He's also NECA and IBEW Local 103 affiliated, EVITP-certified, and a ChargePoint installation partner, so EV charger work is a real part of the business rather than an afterthought. On the institutional side, he's handled a fuller electrical refresh for the Duxbury Bay Maritime School, covering outlets, LED recessed lighting, parking-lot and spot lighting, and a backup battery transfer panel. Two things worth checking before booking: the company describes itself as a licensed master electrician, but nothing here comes from the state license registry directly, so it's worth confirming the number yourself. And nearly all of this reputation sits on Google; CitySquares and MyLocalServices both carry a listing for the business but show zero reviews, so there isn't much independent corroboration outside one platform. For anything from a stuck breaker to a full EV charger install, or as a sub a GC can hand a renovation's electrical scope to, this is a reasonable call. Just verify the license directly and get a written quote up front, which past customers say he provides anyway.

Was remodeling my entryway and hired Dan do to the electrical work. He was extremely accommodating and worked around the demolition and installation of new sheetrock. He also provided some recommendations to make the space and lighting even better. Dan is extremely knowledgeable and is a definite must hire for anyone looking to do some electrical work around the house.

Very easy to work with and professional. We had recessed lighting installed and help diagnosing and fixing an issue with some outlets and a light fixture. Would happily work with them again.

Highly recommend D Reed Electric! They were professional, reliable, and extremely knowledgeable from start to finish. Communication was great, they showed up on time, and the quality of work was excellent. Everything was done efficiently and with attention to detail. It’s hard to find contractors you can truly trust, and they exceeded expectations. Will definitely be using them again!
