Someone from ServiceMaster by Gaudet was at a Woburn-area house less than an hour after the fire department left a dryer fire, setting up fan units and deodorizers overnight to pull the smoke out — that 2013 account is the clearest picture of what this Woburn shop is built for. Rob and Cheryl Gaudet started the disaster-restoration business out of their home in 1987, and the company says it has been cleaning up fire, water, soot, mold and sewage damage across Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire ever since, with a 24/7 line and the ServiceMaster Restore franchise behind it. The written history is deep, and it is old: 12 reviews running 2006 to 2017, with Angi showing 4.8 across 14 ratings, 93% of them five-star. Speed and containment are what customers kept describing. A homeowner writing in 2013 watched a foreman walk the house with a hand-held infrared device to find where rain had gotten in through an open roof before the crew touched anything. A 2017 reviewer said the ceilings were opened only where they had to be and tents went up to dry the space and keep mold from starting, with the damage easily patched afterward. Insurance work is familiar ground — a 2011 customer's insurer contracted them directly, and that customer called the price reasonable. Its BBB page is an A+, accredited since 2011, listing water, sewer, fire, mold, trauma and vandalism restoration alongside deodorization, dehumidification and COVID-19 sanitization. The Massachusetts Supplier Diversity Office also lists an active Women Business Enterprise certification, held by the corporate entity behind the brand, Robert D. Gaudet and Sons Cleaning Services. Two things to raise on the call. The one complaint on file is a July 2008 review saying the bill landed well above the estimate and arrived without itemization — and the company answered on that same page that it has no record of ever working at that address and that it must have been another ServiceMaster franchise. Restoration scopes grow once walls come open, so get the estimate and what triggers a change order in writing regardless. The other is simply time: nothing has been written publicly about this company since September 2017, so ask for recent local references before you commit. For a fire, a flood, a sewage backup or a mold problem — especially one running through an insurer — this is a long-established Woburn outfit with a specific, well-described way of working. Confirm who is running your job and how the billing is itemized before the trucks roll.

“Rob was born in Woburn, MA, where he grew up and was educated. He married the love of his life, Cheryl, in 1983. In 1987 Rob and Cheryl started their own disaster restoration business, ServiceMaster by Gaudet, and worked from their home for several years. Rob is still known to all in the industry as a Godly man of integrity, honesty and hard work. Rob’s successful business will now be proudly managed and operated in the same manner by his sons. His employees did not think of him as a boss, but more of a genuine friend with whom they could socialize and talk to, and the feeling was mutual. Rob”
Service Master knew EXACTLY what they needed to do, and came in quickly and professionally and did it. They did minimum (but necesssary) damage, opening ceilings and creating tents to dry everything out and prevent mold, which was easily repaired afterwards. All told, I was EXTREMELY impressed with their people.
Service Master was so easy to work with, which made a huge difference in a stressful situation. We had damage from ice dams, definitely not a planned renovation. It took a few tries initially to get in touch with them as it was so so busy this winter, but once I did they were really very helpful, did a good job, would definitely recommend
Bob was great! He helped us out so much with our situation. From being professional to responsive to timely, Bob and his crew did an excellent job. They took care in their work and made the kitchen look brand new!
Service Master by Gaudet sent a foreman to our home ahead of the water damage remediation crew. The foreman used a hand-held infrared radar device to detect any areas of our ceilings, walls or floors that suffered water damage from the rain that entered our attic when the roof was damaged in Hurricane Sandy. He was prompt, professional, courteous and knowledgeable. The work team from Gaudet arrived on time and immediately went to work removing the damaged drywall, ceiling material, insulation and carpeting from the four rooms that suffered water damage. They worked tirelessly the two days that they were working to remove the damaged material, removed everything completely, and cleaned up all of their work. Then they worked to set up the commercial dehumidifiers and blowers to dry out the rooms, and had to run extension cords through the house due to the fact that we had to shut off the breakers to the rooms with water damage. and Extremely efficient and courteous team of professionals. A week later when it was time to remove the dehumidifiers and blowers, the foreman went through the house first with the infrared detector to ensure that there was no moisture. They also visually inspected for mold growth (and found none). They then removed all of the materials, and once again cleaned up perfectly behind themselves. I cannot recommend Service Master by Gaudet highly enough. The only knock that I can give them is they are the ones who contacted Action Emergency Services of Revere to do the emergency repairs to our roof until we could get the roof repaired/replaced. Our experience with Action Emergency Services was the complete opposite of Service Master by Gaudet (see the review of Action).
Someone from ServiceMaster came to our house less than an hour after the fire department left after our dryer fire. They installed large fan units with deodorizers to help remove the smoke and the chemicals released into the house, to make it safe for us. The following morning they came and began cleaning- they cleaned every item, every book, every nick-nack. They were very thorough, as well as polite and professional. The crew worked around my daycare schedule, and were very polite with the daycare children that were present while they were cleaning. They came on Saturday to continue the cleaning, so as not to disrupt my daycare, as much as possible. The final days of cleaning, they worked on my basement, cleaning the items we chose to keep, and helping remove the ones we chose to throw away (to a dumpster) They left my house cleaner than it has ever been.
