S&S Construction is a design-build shop out of Marblehead, run by CEO Branden Scimone and CFO Weverton Silva under the tagline "Silva & Scimone." The company handles the full arc of a remodel — design-build, gut rehabs, additions, and construction management — for homeowners across the North Shore and greater Boston area, and its own site claims 10+ years in the trade. Its paperwork checks out where it counts: the Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor license is active and verified in the state registry, and the Better Business Bureau grades the company A+ (it isn't BBB-accredited, but the file is clean). On Google, it holds a 4.8-star average from 18 ratings. Individually, only a handful of reviews are on record — three between 2022 and 2024, spread across five different sites — and the ones on file lean positive, describing a company that shows up organized and finishes what it starts. That said, weighing those few accounts closely lands a bit more measured than the round Google number alone suggests, so treat the star average as a useful signal rather than the final word. One thing worth squaring away before signing anything: the company's own site says "10+ years experience" and carries a 2017 copyright, but the Better Business Bureau's file lists the business as started on 1/1/2018 — worth a quick question about which timeline is accurate, especially if licensing or insurance history matters for your project. For a design-build project, an addition, or a gut rehab in the Marblehead/North Shore area, S&S Construction clears the basic trust checks — active license, BBB grade, decent Google average — but the review trail is thin enough that it's worth asking for a couple of recent, local references before committing to a larger job.

On thanksgiving we reviewed what we are grateful for. Our two year old said “The house branden built us.” This is my second project with Branden and S&S construction. It’s rare that a customer hopes the project never ends, but that’s just how much we enjoyed working with him. There wasn’t an idea too out there for us to make happen. Custom trim in our primary, a tiled ceiling with dual rainfall shower heads, a staircase that is truly a work of art. Our house is more than just our dream house, because Branden thought up details we wouldn’t have even considered. Simply can’t recommend working with S&S and the team (Wev and Paolo too) enough.

We went to S&S/Branden Scimone for a project that involved replacing an almost 100 year old severed pipe that was located in crawl space and covered with asbestos. The job involved taking out a section of the original hard wood floors, removing the asbestos, installing a new pipe, replacing the hard wood floor and then refinishing so it matched the rest of the rooms. The team at S&S was well organized, thorough and presented us with multiple options and solutions at each stage of the project. We could not be happier with both the experience and the results. The heat is working perfectly and the floors look better than ever - you would never be able to tell that a sizable section was completely replaced. The entire crew, including the demo workers, plumber, wood floor installation and finishing specialists, and painters, were not only kind and considerate, but also highly professional and meticulous with their work. A special shout out to the project manager, Paulo, who was a total ace. He consistently stopped by the house to check in, sent regular updates on the work and timing, and was just a really nice and genuine person.

Strung me along for two months on a large project. They committed to follow-up calls and site visits that they never made. Constant excuses. Repeatedly prompted them nicely asking if they were still interested (or not); they kept confirming they were while doing nothing afterwards. They finally ghosted me altogether after one final attempt. Unprofessional run-around. The worst part isn’t that they may not do the work; it’s the chance they’ll mislead you for weeks and weeks and then disappear.
