The reviews say almost nothing about Red Wagon Home. The permit record says a great deal. One review exists, posted in July 2014, praising built-in window seats and a shelving unit built by Matthew — Matthew Trumbull, the owner BuildZoom names — and calling him honest and meticulous. That is the whole written history. The permits fill it in. A $124,000 kitchen and dining remodel in Topsfield in 2023, widening the passage between the rooms and installing new cabinets, countertops and tile floor. A $102,000 siding and replacement-window job in Beverly in 2024. A deck replacement in Beverly in 2021, a mudroom window and rot repair in Middleton in 2022. And in 2020, a two-phase facade restoration on a 1923 Danvers house — windows, siding, door and historic door surround — carried out as approved by the Danvers Historic Commission. That last one matches what the company says about itself: most of the houses it works on are over 100 years old, and it works inside local historic-commission parameters. The site dates the company to 2007 and puts it in Beverly; Houzz lists a 17-town North Shore service area and typical jobs between $20,000 and $150,000. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 190280, is active. Two earlier registrations under the same name, 161543 and 176226, are recorded as inactive. What is missing is customers talking. One review, twelve years old, is not a track record however solid the permits look. Ask for three addresses from the past two years — the Topsfield and Beverly jobs are the scale worth asking about — and speak to those owners before you commit.
