Ask around Reading about an electrician and one first name keeps coming back: Ron. Across five years of reviews on two platforms, customers of Record Electric name the owner and his crew — Dwain, Arnold, Corey — the way people name a mechanic they trust, and the story rarely changes. Called one day, there the next, job done, mess cleaned up. The company's Massachusetts electrician licence, 3998, is active and registered to Record Electric Company Inc. HomeAdvisor puts the company at 4.7 stars across 206 ratings, 74% of them five-star, and lists it as doing business locally since 1991 with 35 years of experience claimed. Its Google page sits at 5 stars across 8 ratings. The work described is bread-and-butter residential electrical. A July 2026 customer had the crew handle the electrical on a kitchen remodel and said the project stayed on schedule start to finish. In a May 2026 review, a homeowner described several outlets added across a few rooms plus lights put into an attic and garage that had none, quoted with a price and a timeframe up front. A July 2025 reviewer had an outlet threaded into the tight space behind a stove; a February 2025 customer called them for an urgent water-heater electrical problem at a rental and said they worked around the tenants. When something goes sideways, the pattern is that Ron fixes it — a customer writing in May 2025 described a small miscommunication corrected the moment they raised it. Price is the recurring caveat, and it is consistent enough to plan around. A 2025 reviewer summed them up as pricey but good; a December 2023 customer wrote "Professional. Excellent Quality Workmanship. Expensive." A 2022 reviewer, happy with the fix, advised settling the hourly charges in advance to avoid surprises, and several HomeAdvisor reviewers flag the minimum charge specifically. They are often not the low bid — one February 2026 customer picked them anyway, on the view that they understood the job best. The one substantive complaint on file is worth reading if your job is diagnostic rather than installation. A February 2026 customer hired the company to inspect five units and the common areas of a six-unit condo building for knob-and-tube wiring, and reported circuits missed and a promised estimate that never arrived. It stands against a long run of satisfied customers, and it points at scope and paperwork rather than craft — so for an inspection or survey, pin down the deliverable and its date in writing. For outlets, fixtures, breakers and the electrical side of a renovation, this is a well-documented shop with an active licence and technicians customers request by name. Expect to pay for it.
We couldn’t be happier with the work Record Electric did on our kitchen remodel! From start to finish, the entire team was professional, organized, and incredibly easy to work with. They showed up when they said they would, kept the project moving on schedule, and left the work area clean at the end of each day. Their attention to detail and craftsmanship really stood out, and it’s clear they take pride in their work. Beyond the quality of the electrical work, everyone we interacted with was genuinely kind, courteous, and respectful. They took the time to answer our questions and made the whole process feel stress-free. If you’re looking for an electrical contractor who is reliable, talented, and a pleasure to work with, I can’t recommend Record Electric enough. Thank you for helping bring our dream kitchen to life!
great work
They were 2 very polite young men. Did the work and cleaned up after themselves.
Ron was prompt in responding to our project. He was efficient and knowledgeable of his craft. The project was to install several outlets in a few rooms. They also installed light fixtures in the attic and the garage which had no lighting at all. He quoted a price and time frame which was well worth the price. Arnold and Dwain were prompt and neat and completed the job in less than the time frame that was suggested.
Job was done quickly, professionally and at a fair price
