RB Farina Roofing has been fixing and replacing roofs around Greater Boston since 1984, and it still trades on finding leaks other roofers miss. Its own profiles describe a family business started by Richard P. Farina, now run day to day with a President/CEO and a manager and about eight employees, working out of Arlington with a second Malden location and Woburn among the towns it covers. The volume of feedback is real: 4.7 stars across 63 Angi ratings, with 81% of them five-star, and an A rating from the Better Business Bureau, which it has been accredited with since 2019. Customers this year describe crews arriving on time, installing with precision, treating the property carefully and cleaning up before leaving, and one simply noted the prices were good. The work spans more than shingles. Reviewers describe EPDM flat roofs on triple-deckers, shingle and metal roof installs, chimney flashing repairs done through cold and ice, and gutter, soffit and fascia replacement, on both houses and commercial buildings. There is a specific thing to pin down before signing. A homeowner this spring had shingles replaced over a bay window after an ice dam, and two pre-coloured Hardie board siding panels broke during the work; they were replaced with unpainted boards, and the customer was quoted an extra $650 to swap in the factory-painted spares they already owned. The contract excluded siding painting, so the company was within its terms, but the customer was left to sort it out. The Better Business Bureau also has four complaints on file, and cites them as the reason for the A rather than a higher grade. If your job is a leak nobody can trace, a flat roof on a multi-family, or flashing work that needs doing properly, this is a deep bench with a long record. Get the scope in writing including what happens if siding, trim or other materials break during the work, ask who your on-site supervisor will be, and confirm the company's Massachusetts registration and insurance before the crew arrives.

they replaced the shingles on top of a bay window where there had been an ice dam and added underlayment. The siding on the house is pre-colored Hardie board, while doing the work two of the Hardie boards broke. They replaced the broken boards with two primed but unpainted Hardie boards . They never asked if we had more pre-colored boards in the basement. We did! I asked them to make this right by pulling off the two unpainted panels and putting in the factory painted ones - The asked for an extra 650 which seems like a lot Before the job the communication was great, lots of pictures, but they did not say Hardie board is likely to break - which would would have gotten me to point out where the spares were After the wrong boards went up they were responsive and polite but not helpful The contract that i signed said they were not responsible for painting any siding, so they were technically right but they left me on my own

We were very happy with the work done by RB Farina's teams. There was good on-site communication ensuring we were provided updates of the progress and any additional time needed. The finished work was done with high quality. Their teams have a lot of expertise and provided good advice throughout the process on how to fix our roof leak issue. Would recommend to anyone needing roof work done and we plan to use them again.

- behind the score: Collateral damage — siding panels broke during a shingle repair
What does a roof replacement cost in Greater Boston?
Typical Greater Boston range for this kind of work, from regional averages — not a quote from RB Farina Roofing of Woburn. Use it to sanity-check bids, then get the real number in writing.
A square is 100 sq ft of roof surface — bigger than the floor plan because of pitch and overhangs.
Estimated range
$9,000 – $18,600
Typical roofing project around $13,800
