R.C. Mason Movers has been running moves out of the same Route 1 address in Peabody for decades — its own About page says the company opened in 1948, and it's been a local Atlas Van Lines agent since 1970. It describes itself as family-run across four generations, working residential, commercial, and international jobs out of Boston, Peabody, and Cambridge. Review volume is hard to ignore: 262 Google ratings average five stars, and independent trackers like moveBuddha list it as the top-rated local mover for both Peabody and Andover, with a Yelp average around 4.1 across roughly 240 reviews. It's also carried BBB accreditation since 1992, with an A+ rating there. Across dozens of reviews spanning several years, a few themes repeat: crews handling furniture carefully, showing up on time, and staying easy to reach with questions before and during a move — whether the job is a move across town, a long-distance relocation, an overseas shipment, or a stretch of furniture storage in between. Against that volume sits one complaint, several years old, describing items that went missing after a move and a response from ownership that didn't resolve it — an outlier in an otherwise clean record, but a reason to nail down the inventory process for anything irreplaceable. Worth asking about too: FMCSA records list the company as registered as both a carrier and a broker (USDOT 15127, MC 100537) since 1974, with a safety record below the national average for out-of-service violations — a solid sign on compliance, but the broker registration means some interstate jobs could be subcontracted rather than run entirely by R.C. Mason's own crews. There's also a minor mismatch in how long the company says it's been around: 1948 by its own About page, versus the 93 years in business BBB credits it with, which points to an earlier start. For a full-service local, long-distance, or international move — especially one where storage is part of the plan — this reads as a well-established, heavily reviewed option. Confirm who's actually on the truck for a longer haul, and get the inventory in writing.

I had to move my elderly mother across the country on very short notice. R.C. Mason Movers was able to fit us in and worked with me to make the experience less stressful than it already was. I got quotes from 5 of the well known national movers and went with Atlas after going over the quote with Adam from R.C. Mason. The actual movers were very friendly and professional. Everything arrived in good shape and the final cost ended up about $1,000.00 less than the estimate. I did extensive research before making the final decision and I'm happy to say it paid off. Thanks Adam and Jeff

I recently hired R.C. Movers and couldn’t be more pleased with the entire experience. From start to finish, they were on time, on budget, and incredibly courteous. The team treated my belongings and furniture with the utmost respect, carefully handling everything as if it were their own. What really stood out was their professionalism—they explained everything they were doing throughout the move, which gave me great peace of mind. Every member of the crew (movers, dispatch and sales) were not only efficient but also genuinely pleasant to work with. It’s rare to find a moving company that combines skill, transparency, and kindness so seamlessly. I highly recommend R.C. Movers to anyone looking for a stress-free, reliable, and respectful moving experience!
