Twenty-five reviews on file, twenty-four of them five stars — and then the twenty-fifth, posted in July 2026, which opens "I am shocked and appalled to learn that Rob is still licensed and conducting business." That customer says Pathway walked off their home mid-project on a $250,000 budget, leaving an unusable bathroom, a broken tub, a shower floor leaking into the room below and a leaking roof, much of it still unfixed years later. It is the only thing anyone has posted about the company in the past six months. Everything else reads differently. Pathway Development works out of Melrose with a second address in Braintree, and describes itself as doing residential remodeling and frame-to-finish new construction — kitchens, bathrooms, decks. The name in nearly every review is Rob (Robert Egan), usually paired with a project lead: Brian, Eddie, Charlie. The thread running through the praise is schedule discipline. Customers writing in 2023 said the crew started when they said they would and finished in time for a holiday; a 2022 reviewer had a kitchen and two bathrooms redone and reported it came in under budget and earlier than expected. A January 2026 reviewer singled out the Buildertrend app — shared calendar, daily reports with photos, change orders in writing — as what made a first renovation manageable. A January 2025 customer walked through a deck rebuild in order: old deck demolished, new footings set, new deck built, site left clean. The work reaches well past bathrooms. A 2024 reviewer credited the crew with renovating the Weymouth Peer Recovery Support Center. In 2022 and 2023, reviewers described a four-storey Marina Bay townhome in Quincy taken back to a full remodel and a condo unit gutted to brand new; a reviewer writing at the end of 2025 described a dated sunroom porch with leaking windows turned into usable family space. Houzz shows sixteen project portfolios and lists a Construction Supervisor number, CS-113033 — the directory's listing, not something confirmed against the state registry. So: four years of detailed, consistent praise for scheduling, communication and pricing, and one recent, unanswered account of a job that went badly wrong. Raise it with them directly, ask to speak to a client whose project ran long, and get payment milestones and a completion date written into the contract before anyone starts demolition.
I am shocked and appalled to learn that Rob is still licensed and conducting business. An image here is of my home, a bathroom that is unusable, tub that is broken, shower floor that leaks into the room below. He abandoned the job at our home and stole 6 figures out of a $250k budget. We were left with no kitchen, a leaking roof and dozens of other problems (many still unresolved years later). He altered the formative years of the children living within the chaos he created and changed the direction of our lives. Every nightmare you've ever heard of in terms of "bad contractors" came true, the list is too long to write here but feel free to DM me. Run do not walk away. I would not wish this experience on my worst enemy and cannot possibly stress enough how this person CANNOT be trusted.
Excellent work, was extremely satisfied with the work Rob and his team did at my house. Rob was in constant contact with updates on the progress especially if something unexpected came up during the process. I highly recommend using them for your home/business projects. I'll be using them again for future projects
We hired Pathway to remodel our condo kitchen and laundry room and they did an excellent job. As first time homeowners who just moved in, we were nervous about immediately taking on a big expensive project but Rob and Brian did a great job fielding all of our questions and concerns. To make matters more complicated, the structural work required cooperation from a surly neighbor who lived downstairs at the time. For that to work they needed to adhere to the schedule on the calendar and communicate any delays or changes as soon as they knew about them. The workers and subcontractors came when they were supposed to and they took great care to clean up at the end of the day and protect the rest of the house from the construction. Everyone on the team was attentive and professional. They finished on time and on budget. One year in and we haven't had any problems and continue to receive many compliments on our kitchen. We'd gladly work with them again.
Rob and his team at Pathway Development were fantastic to work with and clearly an organized team. They are extremely responsive and communicative. Their pricing is very reasonable. I love the Buildertrend app that they used, which shows a calendar of all their scheduled activities, messages portal, daily project reports with photos, quick change orders/add-ons to the original contract, etc. Rob and Brian were always quick and patient with their explanations (as I was someone with no prior renovation experience), accommodated numerous add-ons as things came up, and brought so many of my ideas into reality. These included a bathroom gut renovation with custom vanity and huge accessible walk-in shower, installation of a new kitchen island range hood and induction stovetop, and replacement of all carpets with new matching hardwood floors (among many other things). We are so happy with the result, and everyone who has visited post-renovation has been very impressed with their work. I would not hesitate to work with Pathway again and highly recommend them to anyone!
Rob and his team were very clear throughout the duration of our remodeling project. They had techs onsite each day and were very detail oriented. They were responsive to our requests and completed everything in a timely fashion. I recommend them for any project you may have.
