Monaco Johnson Group is a design-build shop working out of Salem, Massachusetts, the kind of outfit homeowners bring in for a full room rebuild rather than a quick patch job. Its own site sums up the pitch in four words: "Converting Vision to Elegance." Directory and BBB records put its start in 2008, run today by owner Chris Monaco with a small crew of about four. The written record is short: one review total, plus two Google ratings, both landing at 5 stars — encouraging, but far too little to call a pattern yet. Its Houzz profile, which lists design-build, remodeling, and carpentry work, hasn't drawn a single review of its own. The credentials on paper are solid: a Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor license that checks out as active with the state, an A+ grade from the Better Business Bureau (though it isn't a BBB Accredited Business), a Houzz Award and Badge, and an older Silver LEED Certification and 2004 design award. Worth double-checking before booking: its Houzz profile places the company in Marblehead, while every directory and BBB listing has it at 8 Proctor Street in Salem, and its published phone number varies across listings too. This reads like a licensed, credentialed operator with too small a public review footprint to size up with confidence — worth a direct conversation and a look at its portfolio of large projects and bathrooms before committing to a bigger renovation.

Father and son head a range of specialists within all that is needed in home renovation. They bring a high level of expertise as true artisans of home remodeling! In the summer of 2021, we had our inherited gloomy kitchen totally demolished, and commissioned this construction group to capture a new vision of what a limited dimension-sized kitchen could become. With the assistance of an exceptional Cabinet Maker, they went to work eliminating a poorly located closet, and created a large open portal to the dining area. Several new additions of receding ceiling lights were mounted along with an exciting decorative splash-wall. A contemporary range hood was installed over a professional gourmet range with robust output. A neglected "breakfast-nook" of sorts was given earthy reddish-brown faux pub-brick to the surrounding walls to create a cozy intimacy for morning coffee! Lush Italian porcelain tile was applied to the kitchen flooring with a butcher-block placed dead center. When completed, the new kitchen was transformed to a welcomed refuge for family and friends. Our investment in the Monaco Johnson Group was well rewarded!
