Martel Real Estate has been selling houses out of Lynn long enough that the two accounts of how long disagree: the company's own site says over 45 years, while its BBB page puts the business start date at January 1988. Either way, this is an old-line North Shore shop — a Western Ave storefront, a second office in Groveland, and a BBB file listing two employees with Stephen Martel as owner. The work is straightforward brokerage. By its own description, the firm represents buyers and sellers of residential, commercial, and rental property across Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Its agents are members of the National Association of Realtors, and the site points to the REALTOR® Code of Ethics. The company describes itself as licensed brokers in both states, but publishes no license number and that claim hasn't been checked against a state registry. The review history is small and uniformly positive: 5 stars from 14 Google ratings, with nine reviews spread from 2022 to 2026 across four places and nothing negative in the last six months. Worth noticing what the most recent one actually is. An April 2026 Google review comes not from a homebuyer but from an agent on the other side of a closing, who called a Martel agent professional and knowledgeable and said they would work together again. That tells you something about how the office transacts with the other side of a deal; it is not a client's account of being represented. BBB has had a file open on the company since December 2017 but issues no rating, saying it lacks sufficient information to do so, and the business is not accredited there. That is a gap in outside verification rather than a complaint about the work — there are no complaints or actions on the page at all. If you want a small, long-established local office on the North Shore rather than a big-brand brokerage, Martel fits that shape: a handful of agents who have worked the same Lynn-to-Groveland market for decades. Before you sign a listing agreement, ask which agent will actually run your sale — the praise here attaches to individuals, not the office — and ask them to put their Massachusetts and New Hampshire broker license numbers in writing.

Kaitlin and Steve have been the absolute biggest helps with selling my family’s home. Even after the sale of the house, Kaitlin has helped us tremendously! They were both VERY communicative, and always kept us involved in anything that happened. Successfully purchased our first home through Martel Real Estate. Worked with Steve who walked us through the whole process from start to finish and was excellent. We made four offers and Steve was able to get each one in quickly, sometimes within a few hours. He was also diligent in getting feedback from the listing agent about our rejected offers which was hugely beneficial in helping gauge the market and what other offers were on the table. Working with Steve and Kate we were able to develop a strategy that allowed us to make strong offers in this competitive market and within just a few months were able to close on a home we were very happy with. 5/5 would recommend!!
