Two hundred seventy-two Google ratings at a five-star average, and in the last six months not a single negative one. Focus Real Estate calls itself a boutique Boston brokerage based in Jamaica Plain — homes and condos, plus free home valuation reports — and its Massachusetts real estate broker license, 422219, is active on the state registry. What clients describe most often is being carried through the parts of a sale they could not handle themselves. A seller living outside the country wrote in July that Randal managed the many moving parts and kept the whole process smooth from a distance — exactly the kind of job where a small brokerage either earns its fee or doesn't. The buyer side reads the same way, and the through-line is listening rather than selling. A couple searching this spring needed a home an above-knee amputee could move through comfortably every day; they said Ruben Montano-Lopez understood that without being told twice, and let it shape every showing. Another buyer credited Neathery with strong knowledge of homes in the area, help preparing competitive offers, and no push to stretch beyond what they could afford. First-time buyers turn up again and again in the recent write-ups. They mention being pointed toward inspection and service resources, given specific advice on what to watch for during walkthroughs, and — a small thing that keeps recurring — never made to feel a question was dumb. A February client described prompt communication at every step, negotiation handled well, and paperwork that moved without drama. Behind those recent notes sits a long run: 232 reviews across four sources going back to 2021, consistently positive. A Boston real-estate trade post has also credited the firm as a buyer's representative on a local multifamily deal — one post rather than anything independently confirmed, but consistent with what clients describe. Two things worth sorting out before you call. The praise here attaches to individual agents — Randal, Ruben, Neathery — more than to the company as a whole, so ask who you'd actually be paired with and what they've closed lately in your neighborhood. And the company states Boston as its service area, so confirm coverage if your search runs past the city line. If you want a small brokerage where one named agent stays with you from first showing through closing — especially as a first-time buyer, or a seller who can't be on-site — this is a reasonable call. Pin down the agent, the commission, and the timeline in writing before you sign anything.

We couldn’t have asked for a better experience working with Randal to sell our first home. Since we live outside the country, we needed someone we could fully trust to manage the many moving parts, and Randal made the entire process incredibly smooth. He took care of everything from coordinating with our tenants, contractors, stager, and HOA trustee to keeping us updated along the way. We followed his guidance on pricing and negotiations, and we were thrilled with the result: our condo sold well over asking. His staging recommendation was excellent and made the place look amazing. Throughout the process, Randal was friendly, responsive, and easy to work with. We always felt like we were in good hands. We would highly recommend Randal to anyone looking for a selling agent who is knowledgeable, dependable, and truly goes the extra mile.

We love Focus Reality!! If you’re looking for someone who truly listens — and I mean really listens — Ruben Montano-Lopez is your person. My husband is an above knee amputee, and finding the right home wasn’t just about square footage or a nice kitchen. It was about accessibility, layout, and making sure he could move through our home comfortably every single day. Ruben got that without us having to explain it twice. He took the time to understand what our life actually looks like and used that to guide every single showing. He never brought us somewhere that didn’t make sense for us. There were moments in the process where we felt overwhelmed, and Ruben had this calm, steady way of reminding us that the right place was out there. He was honest when something wasn’t a fit and enthusiastic when something was — and you could tell it was genuine. We are so in love with our new home and our neighborhood in West Roxbury. It feels right in every way, and we truly don’t think we would have found it without Ruben in our corner fighting for us. Call him. Seriously. You won’t regret it.

Working with Ruben and Focus was amazing. Ruben took wonderful care - he was available, on top of things, knew everything about everything (and if he didn't he was quick to find out and/or knew who to ask), responsive, and he never made me feel like any of my requests or questions were dumb (and some of them definitely were!) Ruben immediately became my trusted advisor and my advocate! He also put together a truly professional team of folks to support my homebuying project. I see why my friends recommended Focus. They were so right!

Working with Neathery was an absolute pleasure! She had a strong knowledge of homes in the area, helped us prepare competitive offers for properties we were interested in, was always incredibly friendly, and never pressured us to purchase anything beyond our means or that didn’t fit our criteria. Additionally, when we finally purchased a house with her, she did an amazing job connecting us with strong inspectors, attorneys, and more for a smooth closing process. I’d highly recommend that anyone looking for homes in Boston should work with her!

Amazing experience! Ruben was communicative and patient with us as first time home buyers. He provided excellent resources for services and inspections, and gave poignant advice on what to watch out for during walkthroughs. We'd recommend him for any other first time home buyers (and just home buyers in general)
