The one story that keeps showing up about James Holske Electrician is a phone call: someone with an electrical problem, and James walking them through it before ever grabbing a truck key. He runs the business alone out of 40 Delle Ave in Boston, and the BBB lists it as a sole proprietorship that's been active since 2010. That pattern held up as recently as March, when a Boston homeowner called about a circuit breaker acting up in a very old house — Holske walked the couple through the fix over the phone, described afterward as clear, kind, and helpful. By June, another reviewer called him someone they'd refer to anyone needing an electrician, citing his know-how and evident enthusiasm for the trade. Those two sit inside a longer run: a 4.6-star average across 23 Google ratings, a verified-license badge on BuildZoom's page for him, and 12 total reviews spread across four different sites since 2021, with nothing negative showing up in the past six months. A commercial client's account of him untangling a complicated building's wiring and fixing a previous contractor's sloppy work rounds out the same picture — someone who diagnoses before he installs. Before calling, it's worth asking what happens after the work wraps up. Boston's own permit records show he's filed 51 electrical permits in the city since 2010, but only 45% of the rated ones are closed — 28 are still listed open, a closure rate about five points below the city median. Nothing in the reviews points to unfinished or shoddy work, so this reads more like a paperwork gap than a craftsmanship one, but it's worth confirming a permit actually gets closed out once the job is done. The BBB also grades him A+ without listing him as accredited. He's a reasonable call for a homeowner in an older Boston building who wants someone willing to talk through the problem before showing up — just ask him to close the permit loop when the job needs one.

I called James at 4:40 in the afternoon with a problem related to our circuit breaker in a very old home. He walked my husband and me through the issue until it was resolved. He was clear, kind and helpful!

James did an amazing job with the lighting and electrical installation in my new shop. Very pleased with his work. He made sure I was comfortable with where the lights would go and went above and beyond to help me identify little things that really give my shop that wow factor.

James was wonderful! He started by helping me over the phone trying to diagnose the problem; he wanted to see if there was a simple solution that he could walk me through and save me the cost of an electrician. Once we knew I needed professional help he arrived quickly and charged me a *very* reasonable rate for the amount of time he was here. Once he discovered an issue with the wiring outside my house that the electric company needed to address he called them, got them to come ASAP, and stayed here longer than necessary on a weekend (no additional cost) to make sure there were no problems with their work. He was remarkably patient and answered all the questions my 8-year old asked him about the work he was doing and the work Eversource was doing. He is a very kind person who knows his stuff; I recommend him whole heartedly
