Hillcrest Electric Corporation has been wiring homes and businesses around Needham since 1966, according to its Better Business Bureau file, and it's still a small, six-person operation run by Bill LeMay Jr. Six decades in one town is the kind of tenure that's hard to fake. That longevity is backed up everywhere else the company shows up. The BBB grades it A+, despite the business never having sought accreditation. Google reviewers put it at 4.9 out of 5, and a broader Boston Consumers' Checkbook survey found the same thing: nine in ten respondents rated the service superior, most often mentioning that Hillcrest shows up when scheduled and explains the work in plain terms. Write-ups on BestProsInTown and Nextdoor, unrelated to each other, land on nearly identical words — timely, responsive, trustworthy — which is the kind of overlap that's harder to manufacture than a single glowing review. What's thinner is anything to check independently before calling. Hillcrest's own website is little more than a placeholder page — a tagline, a phone number, and a claim of being licensed in Massachusetts, with no service list or service area spelled out. Directories also disagree on where to find them: most list 36 Evans Rd, but one older listing gives 214 Garden St, Suite 8, under the same phone number, so it's worth confirming the current address before a visit. For a Needham homeowner who wants an electrician with a long, consistently praised history rather than a polished web presence, Hillcrest is a reasonable call — just get the scope and price in writing up front, since the company doesn't spell out much of that on its own.

These guys are the best. I started using Hillcrest Electric a few years ago when I wanted to install a single transfer switch for both a generator and a battery. They understood exactly what I wanted and completed it quickly and at a great price. I've also called them for various exterior issues caused by other electricians and they always came out quickly. I'll never use another electrician.

I used Hillcrest for a difficult job -- installing a ceiling fan on a high ceiling -- and they were on-time and did a first-rate job. I'm pleased with the result.

We have used Hillcrest Electric for the last 9 years. They are responsive, reasonably priced and very trustworthy. The type of people you would be happy to have in your home.
