Gentle Giant Moving Company has been moving New England households since 1980, by its own account, and now runs branches across a dozen states from Boston to San Francisco. It says it handles everything from a single studio move to full cross-country relocations, plus packing, storage, and piano and fine-art moving, out of a Winchester headquarters. The last six months back that up with volume: 20 Google reviews, every one of them five stars, sitting on top of an overall base of 85 ratings that also averages five. The same details keep recurring — crews that show up on time (one reviewer specifically noted an early arrival despite high winds and rain), take furniture apart and reassemble it at the new place, and pack fragile items carefully enough that reviewers call out zero damage. A number of the same customers keep coming back: one reviewer counted seven moves in a decade, another was on a fourth move with the company, and two more were each on their second. Before booking, it's worth knowing that despite an A+ BBB rating and accreditation dating to 1990, the BBB's own review section for the company includes a theft allegation and a furniture-damage complaint, and a separate, older mention on Birdeye also describes items broken during a move. None of that shows up in the run of five-star Google reviews, which is itself worth noting for a company this size — at 46 years in business by its own count, a handful of bad outcomes can sit alongside hundreds of good ones without moving the average. A moveBuddha profile adds that the company holds active FMCSA registration and runs roughly 88 trucks, which points to a real, regulated interstate carrier rather than a fly-by-night outfit — though that's moveBuddha's own reporting, not something checked here against a federal registry directly. For a local or long-distance move, especially one involving a piano, bulky furniture, or a tight timeline, the volume and consistency of recent reviews make Gentle Giant a reasonable call. Given the company's scale, it's worth asking directly about claims handling and breakage coverage before moving day, since that's exactly where the rare complaints cluster.

The Gentle Giant crew managed a complicated, two-step move for us to two different locations. They are uniformly friendly, polite, and hard-working. They made the whole process run smoothly and efficiently. Thank you!

I’ve moved many times and these were by far the best movers I’ve ever used. They arrived on time with smiles and began working immediately. They were fast, organized, careful of my home and my belongings and were very pleasant. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a good mover. They were exceptional! So glad we found them. I would never hesitate to call Gentle Giant for moves large and small. They moved us cross-country and then most recently helped lift a piano onto a new carpet. Great experience both times!

Can't recommend this team enough! They helped us with a local move, where they did a partial pack, and it was great from start ti finish. They showed up on time (technically early!) and were absolutely terrific despite some gross weather (high winds and rain). Plus they were friendly and thoughtful with their questions. 11/10!
