Gentle Giant's Marshfield office draws people back again and again — one reviewer this spring was on their fourth move with the company since 2011, and another had first hired them 25 years ago, this time just moving a daughter into her first apartment. That kind of repeat business is the throughline here, not a one-off good review. The Marshfield location, at 624 Plain St, has served Plymouth County and the South Shore since 2015, when it relocated from Plymouth, according to the company's own site. It operates under Gentle Giant Moving Company, Inc., which the company says was founded in 1980 and now runs in a dozen states from a Somerville headquarters, offering local, long-distance, and international moves alongside packing, storage, and specialty handling for pianos and fine art. Google shows roughly 96 ratings averaging close to 5 stars for the Marshfield profile, and moveBuddha independently calls it Marshfield's top-rated local mover at 4.64/5. Nothing negative turns up in the last several months of reviews: Matt and Jake were singled out in July for working fast while still taking time to wrap and protect furniture; a customer in June used the crew to clear an attic into a storage container mid-renovation; and a repeat client in May credited Connor and Patrick with an on-time, courteous job on what was their sixth or seventh move with the company. A professional home organizer wrote that they've referred clients here for six years because the crews handle both belongings and people with care. Boston Consumers' Checkbook, in a separate profile tied to the company's Somerville hub, records a 77% 'superior' rating across 126 customer ratings — the same pattern of consistency shows up there too. There's no state license to check here: moving falls under DOT and interstate trucking rules rather than Massachusetts' home-improvement contractor system, so skipping an HIC number is normal for this trade, not a gap. One loose thread worth a mention — the company's own site claims 46 years in business (tracing to a stated 1980 founding), while moveBuddha's write-up puts the figure at 43; the two don't quite agree. For a South Shore move — local, long-distance, or a mid-renovation shuffle into storage — this reads like a safe, well-worn call. Given the size of the parent company, it's still worth confirming which crew and office will actually show up on your date.

I have used Gentle Giant in the past for a move and they were amazing. During a recent home renovation, they assisted us in moving many items from our attic to a storage container. They were responsive, on time, fast and thorough. The two movers who assisted us were very nice and a pleasure to work with. I would highly recommend this moving company and will use them again in the future!
