Google reviews average 4.3 across 306 ratings, but a separate moving-industry tally puts this company's Yelp average at just 2.7 — two very different pictures of the same Newton mover. Five Stars Movers works out of Adams Street in Newton, taking on everything from local apartment moves to full interstate relocations. The recent Google reviews describe specific, real work: a piano and antique furniture wrapped and moved without damage, a mother's bed disassembled and reassembled successfully, a full apartment packed and moved within a tight window. One customer moving a 1,500-square-foot business center across three states in a single month called the coordination with the crew a bright spot during a stressful closure. Several reviewers mention this being their second time hiring the crew. But the same recent stretch includes complaints that read as more than one-off grumbling. One customer says a $500 missed-appointment fee only showed up on the final bill, never mentioned beforehand. Another says movers arrived two hours past a promised 1-3pm window, costing them access to their building that day. A third called to ask about pricing and says they were hung up on mid-conversation. A longtime customer who'd had two moves go smoothly before says this third one didn't. Get the cancellation and rescheduling fee policy in writing before booking, and confirm the arrival window with a same-day check-in call — those are the exact points where recent reviewers say things went sideways. For a straightforward move handled by a long-operating, licensed interstate carrier, the crew clearly can do careful, fast work; just don't assume the Google average alone tells the whole story before locking in a date.

Movers were on time, efficient, respectful and reasonably priced. Even though I underestimated the size of the move they were accommodating, helpful and reasonably professional. Great with fragile items. Even helped hang the tv at the new house. Highly recommend
