Douglass Appliance has been on High Street in Danvers since 1967 — the company's own count is 59 years — and its reviews read like a family address book: people who bought the appliance, then had the same shop service it, then sent their kids in. One April reviewer put it plainly: two decades of appliances from the same store, and a shop willing to go to bat with the manufacturer when something goes wrong. In February another walked in with a microwave that died the week before the Super Bowl, was told delivery might slip to the following week, and had it the next day when a unit turned up in the warehouse. Google sits at 4.7 across 55 ratings, its BBB page is an A+ though the business is not BBB-accredited, and it is listed with the Danvers Chamber of Commerce. BBB puts the staff at nine, with Lloyd Douglass as owner and Diana Young as manager. The complaints in its history are about terms rather than technicians — a diagnostic charge where the visit ended in a verdict instead of a repair, and limits on dishwasher installation and hauling the old unit away. Neither is recent, but both point the same direction: pin down what the trip charge covers, whether it comes off the repair bill, and exactly what the delivery crew will and won't do. On r/SalemMA in May, a commenter answering an appliance-repair question called Douglass the gold standard for repairs and a decades-old family business. If the appliance is worth fixing and you would rather deal with the same people next time, this is that kind of store. Get the installation and haul-away scope written into the sale.

Have used them for more than 20 years and have bought all our appliances from them. . . Upgrading a couple of times. . . They are not afraid to go to bat for a customer with the manufacturer. . . We have recommended them to our friends, my mother in the past, and my daughter uses them now too. . . They come when they say they will and try not to waste the customers time or money!

So it went like this.... Sunday (the week before the Super Bowl...uggh) our microwave decided it did not want to work. I do not panic. Lets just think. I saw an ad about a week ago prior on the TV about Douglass. I called Monday, Kristen said to come on over and lets see if we can help you. Well, at 4 pm on Monday this little Angel found the model I was looking for. Her response was, "sorry, it might not be able to be delivered until the FOLLOWING WEEK....UGGGGG." The next morning (Tuesday) she said "we found one in the warehouse and can have it done today!!!! "Are you kiddin me!!!!!!!!!!" By 2 pm on Tuesday, it was done. But this is not where it ends. I was quoted $120 Plus depending.... Pat came out, installed it, i am writing the check and he says....its only $80, I did not need some of the parts I thought. Can you actually find people like this in 2026, I think not! You cannot beat a family owned, personable, customer service orientated business like this these days. If I could give them 20 stars, a kidney, my first born male (sorry-taken) I would. Call them first and forget about it.....Beyond THE BEST. Danny

Douglass Appliance Center is all about customer services from the person I spoke to to the team that bought my new dryer. Within 60 minutes of calling them with a dryer that had a problem. They determine the issue over the phone , shared cost to replace motor and other items. I asked what a new one cost and within 5 minutes I had a price. The new dryer was delivered 40 minutes latter and installed. Outstanding services. It's why I go only to Douglass for the last 40 years. Outstanding Service, fair prices, excellent response to any issues and some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Thank you for everything
