Copia Real Estate Design & Build works out of 425 Lincoln Street in Hingham, running design-build renovation and addition projects across the South Shore. Its Houzz listing places it among the area's design-build firms rather than a general handyman outfit, and a separate directory describes it simply as a remodeler doing design and construction work — the kind of company called in for a full remodel or addition, not a quick patch job. Every rating on file points the same direction: a flat 5.0 out of 5 across 16 Google ratings and 8 on Houzz. That's backed by real third-party recognition rather than just self-reported stars — a 2019 PRISM Award for Best Bathroom Renovation, being named the 2022 BOSS (Best of the South Shore) Home Renovation Company, and three additional Houzz Awards plus two Houzz Badges. None of the written history behind those averages is fresh, though. The reviews feeding those ratings run from 2022 to 2023, and nothing newer has landed on Google or Houzz since. Public building and landscape permits filed under the company's name in Hingham are a bit more current, running into mid-2024, which at least shows it was still pulling permits and doing real project work under its own name that year. One thing worth checking directly before booking: the company's Better Business Bureau file carries an alert for 'out-of-business known or suspected,' and BBB lists it as Not Rated and not accredited. That sits oddly next to live 2026 listings on Google and Houzz — it may just be a stale BBB record, but it's worth a quick call to confirm the business is still taking projects. For a homeowner planning a design-build renovation or addition on the South Shore, the award history and the flat 5-star record across two platforms are a genuine point in its favor — just confirm directly that it's still active, given the BBB flag and the gap since its last visible review.

We worked with Copia on initial designs for a kitchen remodel and additions to the upstairs and back of our house. The Copia team moved quickly and efficiently, and understood our vision and feedback along the way. We loved the ability to browse the 3D designs to help us really understand the experience of the house. Bravo!

We selected Copia for an addition (about 500 square feet). They were great. The work included a new roof, laundry room, two new bedrooms, a kitchen, a bathroom, and replacing horsehair plaster in two existing rooms. We knew that a large project during global material, appliance, and labor shortages would be a challenge, but working with Copia make it easier than expected. The partnered with us and communicated clearly when there would be delays (and why) and in turn were receptive to change orders and delays due to our chosen appliances. The team was always responsive to any feedback we had as the project progressed and worked hard to ensure we were satisfied. An example of this is there was an error made with the roof construction on the addition, Copia recognized the error and corrected it without a fight. I think this goes a long way to describing their dedication to craftsmanship and customer satisfaction. Communication was made even easier with their use of the Buildertrend app to keep track of emails, selections, budget, and invoices. I would highly recommend this company and would absolutely use them for future projects.

We hired Copia in 2022 for a major renovation of our home and we couldn't be happier with the experience and finished product. From the start of the project, everyone we worked with was incredibly responsive, professional, and helpful in a way that guided us through the process and eased any concerns we had. The finished product came out far better than we could have ever imagined and we would highly recommend Copia to anyone looking for a consultative partner to help them with their home renovation needs.

Copia came highly recommended to us, as we had a failed bow window that sagged from rotted wood that needed addressing. Should we go with a strictly window specializing company, or should we find a reputable contractor that would be able to handle any structural setbacks with confidence and efficiency? We are very happy to have chosen Copia to do this project, which was done proficiently, with excellent communication, throughout the ordering and completion process. Patrick, Nick and Alex worked well together and cleaned up the site meticulously--thank you so much! Joan, in the office, was also excellent to communicate with for status updates on our custom order. Aside from a lengthy lead time for the window, the company found the large sized bay window as a great solution to our problem, installing it the very next day of its arrival!

Darryl was great to work with. We used Copia for a full bath remodel during the pandemic and he was very supportive through the supply chain squeeze. We’re happy with how the work turned out.
