Something changed at Cazeault Solar & Home, and the reviews mark almost exactly when. Through 2021, 2022 and 2023 this Gloucester company collected an unbroken run of five-star write-ups: a 12kW array a customer called well engineered, well organized and well executed; a 34-panel system chosen over several competing bids; a full roof replacement where the crew worked longer days than planned without extra charges. People thanked staff by name — Evan Lawler, Ryan, Charlie, Matt and Dre. An electrician who had installed his own array elsewhere hired them in 2021 on a commercial solar operator's recommendation. Solaria announced that panels Cazeault deployed would be featured in a 'This Old House' episode, and Reuters photographed a Qcells panel at the Gloucester shop in March 2024. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 187000, is active. Then, from late 2024, every written account turns. A November 2024 customer said a job quoted at four months took about two years, left senseless gaps in the panel layout, generated well below the estimate, damaged the roof, and ended with the company threatening collections. Through 2025 six more one-star reviews describe the same failure in different words: an inverter that took six months to be declared unfixable, an Envoy communications panel dark for six months across roughly 50 unanswered emails and voicemails, a SPAN panel that never worked correctly while the final invoice was pressed, and panels offline for months because — as two separate customers put it — there were no service people to send. The October 2025 account is the one to read twice. A roofing subcontractor wrote that they still had not been paid a year after completing roof replacements, and warned that unpaid subcontractors can place a lien on the homeowner's property and that the roof may never carry its full warranty. Customers tie the change to an ownership change. A January 2025 reviewer was told by their salesman that the company had been bought a year before their own sale, and a Better Business Bureau reviewer wrote that it became mostly unreachable afterwards, answered by an offshore call center. The BBB grades the business F, with four complaints on file. Google still shows 4.6 from 67 ratings, but that average is carrying years of earlier goodwill. Treat the older praise as history, not a forecast. Before signing anything, ask who owns the company now, who actually performs warranty and repair service and how to reach them directly, and get signed lien waivers from every subcontractor before you release final payment.
