Boston Best Construction is a Wakefield general contractor whose reviews, across three separate platforms, keep naming the same person: owner Eduardo Muniz, credited directly for showing up, explaining the process, and answering his phone. The company's own site puts it at roughly ten years in business; Angi says twelve, and the Better Business Bureau's file traces it back to 2007 — call it at least a decade either way. It's registered in Massachusetts as a Home Improvement Contractor (HIC 180429), verified active by the state, and does design-build work, additions, kitchen and bathroom remodeling, roofing, and siding out of its Wakefield base. The spread across platforms is strong: 4.8 stars from 54 Google ratings, 5.0 from 23 on Houzz, 4.6 from 49 on Thumbtack, where it also carries Top Pro status. In the last six months that held up more often than not — a July review praised project manager Karl and the crew for finishing high-quality work on time, and a January review described a garage-top home addition that came in at "the best quote" and stayed professional start to finish. But that same recent stretch also includes a sharp exception: a May review describes the company abandoning a project midway, leaving substandard, incomplete work, and refusing to finish it or refund the payment already collected — specific and recent enough that it shouldn't be waved off as noise. A second May review, of a four-month laundromat renovation, came out net-positive but flagged its own friction: a rigid read of the signed scope of work, and a permitting requirement that didn't get handled until near the end of the job. Two more things are worth raising before signing anything, neither from a customer review: a BuildZoom listing carries an unpaid-debt alert, and Massachusetts's Fair Labor Division brought a case against the company over payroll recordkeeping, worker misclassification, and sick-time practices, which it appealed. Separately, the Better Business Bureau's A+ grade is real, but the business hasn't sought BBB accreditation — a distinction worth knowing rather than a red flag on its own. For an addition or a full remodel where you want one crew and direct access to the owner, the volume and consistency of praise here holds up across independent platforms. Get the scope of work, permitting responsibilities, and payment schedule spelled out in writing before any payment changes hands, and ask directly about the May incident and the labor-board matter if either gives you pause.

Karl, the project manager, was very responsive, and his crew delivered high-quality work on time. I highly recommend this company and will definitely use them again for my next project.

Overall, I had a positive experience working with Boston Best Construction on my laundromat renovation, though there were some ups and downs. Communication was a strength with a full team supporting the project, but they strictly adhere to the defined scope of work, so an additional permitting requirement was not addressed until near the end, causing delays. They subcontract portions of the work, so I didn't have direct input selecting those vendors, and I had some plumbing-related issues that were ultimately resolved. Overall Boston Best Construction delivered a quality end product.

Absolutely terrible experience. Boston Best Construction performed incomplete and substandard work and left my home in a disruptive and unacceptable condition. The project was abandoned midway, causing significant stress, financial loss, and ongoing disruption to my daily life. After collecting a substantial upfront payment, they refused to complete the work or refund the portion they never finished. Communication quickly broke down, and instead of working toward a resolution, I was met with threats of legal action simply for requesting a fair adjustment based on the incomplete work. What’s especially concerning is that this does not appear to be an isolated incident. Other customers — including Lisa, Sean Kelly, Simba, and others — have shared very similar experiences such as the absence of a general contractor on-site, repeated delays, and unfinished or unresolved work. I strongly encourage anyone considering this company to read those reviews carefully. There are also publicly available legal records involving this company, including a case with the Massachusetts Fair Labor Division (you can search for “Boston Best Construction LLC v. Fair Labor Division LB-24-0016” for more information). This entire situation felt extremely unfair and intimidating. No homeowner should have to deal with this level of unprofessionalism and lack of accountability. Based on my experience, I strongly urge others to think twice and thoroughly research before hiring. There are far more reliable, honest, and professional contractors out there.

We had a fantastic experience with Eduardo and his team at Boston Best construction. We built a new home addition above our garage. We had an architectural design with us. BBC came with the best quote. They were also very kind and professional throughout the entire project. They had everything well documented through the Builder trend app which was super convenient. They finished everything well within the expected timeline. We love the new space. Shout out to Marcos, Sabrina, Matt, Karl, Renato and above all, Eduardo (the owner). We will certainly go with them for future projects and will highly recommend them to others.

Boston Best handled a complete gutting and remodel of our bathroom, and we are so happy with the results! The whole team was professional, and all the crew members that came in were clean and conscientious. Thank you Boston Best!
