Bird Dog Real Estate runs out of 330 Beale Street in Quincy, and one name sits behind nearly everything visible about it: Jim Mulvey. Its Massachusetts real estate broker license is active. The public side is small — three ratings, all five stars. The most recent people to write about working with him were first-time buyers, and what they picked out wasn't a fast close. It was patience: a long stretch of looking before the right house turned up, with Mulvey supportive the whole way through the search. Working with him, they wrote, is “an absolute delight.” His name also turns up in a Boston real-estate trade thread on Reddit discussing local deal activity — an unsolicited reference rather than a client account, and worth reading as exactly that. Three ratings, gathered across three places since 2022, is a shallow base to judge any agent on. That isn't a knock on the work described so far; it's a reason to ask for recent closed transactions in your price range and neighborhood, and to talk to the clients from those deals directly. For a first-time buyer in Quincy who wants an agent willing to let a search run long rather than push toward the nearest offer, Mulvey is a reasonable call. Go in knowing the praise is real but thin, and let a conversation about his recent local closings fill in the rest.

Working with Jim is an absolute delight. He is kind, dedicated and professional. We worked with him as first time home buyers. It took us a long time to finally find the right house but he was very supportive and patient the whole time. Highly recommend!

We had an excellent experience selling my mother's house in Quincy with Jim at Bird Dog Realty. As we no longer live in Quincy, the logistical task of selling the house seemed daunting at first, but Jim was with us every step of the way. Jim walked us through the process, and put an excellent strategy into place. He shepherded the sale from arranging for cleaners and fire inspection (and many other small details) to the final day of the closing. Thank you, Jim. -The McCarthys

Best decision I made was hiring Jim Mulvey of Black Dog Real Estate. First time being a seller, Jim made the process easy, answered all my questions, wasn’t the pushy, out for the commission realtor. Highly recommend Jim if you’re buying or selling!
