Bay State Window Fashions doesn't install windows — it dresses them, with custom shades, shutters, blinds, draperies, and upholstery out of a shop on Tremont Street in Peabody. The company says it's been at this since 1978, now in its third generation and still run day-to-day by owner Lisa Berman, a member of the American Society of Interior Designers, who says she spends most days meeting clients, quoting jobs, and installing the treatments herself. There isn't much history to lean on yet. One written review is on file, from 2025, and it's positive. Google shows a perfect 5-star average, but from only two ratings; Houzz shows the same from a single review, alongside a Houzz Award and status as an authorized Hunter Douglas dealer. The Better Business Bureau has accredited the business since 2007, with an A+ grade and no complaints filed against it. Its Massachusetts home improvement contractor license is active and verified against the state registry. What stands out is the consistency across every place this company shows up — nowhere is there a bad word — but the sample behind that is thin: a handful of ratings, not the dozens that would make the pattern hard to dispute. Worth knowing going in: this is a window-treatment and interior-design business, not an exterior-window or siding contractor, so it isn't the call for glass or frame replacement. For shades, shutters, blinds, drapery, or reupholstery work, this is a long-tenured, single-location business where the owner is still the one on-site meeting clients. Given how few outside reviews exist, it's worth asking for a couple of references on a job similar in size to yours before booking, especially for anything larger like whole-house window treatments.

The proprietor is very knowledgeable and helpful and friendly. I came here for Venetian blinds repair. I am happy with the results. I will definitely be coming back when I need more window treatments or help.
