AOA Moving Services is a Boston-area mover whose two biggest scoreboards tell opposite stories. On Thumbtack it carries 4.6 stars across 105 ratings and Top Pro status in 2022 and 2023. At the Better Business Bureau it carries an F, is not accredited, and the bureau counts five complaints — three of which it says the company never answered. The company says it started in 2020 and that the name stands for Attention, Organized, Accommodative, and it lists local and long-distance moving with packing and storage across Massachusetts, Washington and Texas. One thing to know up front: the site now says AOA has been fully acquired by Continental Moving Company, which manages all AOA operations. The praise is consistent and specific about the crews. A December 2023 reviewer named Dauren and Alex, describing furniture wrapped in tape and blankets, bed frames taken apart and reassembled at the new place, and heavy pieces carried up and down several flights. In a March 2023 review, a customer who booked a three-man crew for a Massachusetts-to-DC move said they arrived on time and worked carefully at a reasonable price. Another, writing in October 2023, said the crew loaded their own rented U-Haul efficiently and brought moving cables to protect the load. The complaints are just as specific, and they cluster. In July 2024 a customer wrote that a flat-screen TV was damaged and that six weeks of calls and emails about reimbursement went unanswered after the company initially asked for photos. In August 2024 another said the crew arrived nearly three hours past a four-hour window, and the move was abandoned around midnight. A November 2024 reviewer described a $413 quote the company then tried to bill at about $1,000, an argument that ended with police at the door. The newest written account, from September 2025, describes a dresser left unassembled with its leg screws missing. That is the shape to weigh: crews that many customers found fast and careful, against a run of billing and post-move damage disputes where the company went quiet — the same pattern the BBB points to when it counts three complaints as unanswered. If you hire them, get the estimate in writing with the hourly minimum, the overage increments and travel time spelled out, photograph anything valuable before it goes on the truck, and confirm who handles a damage claim now that Continental Moving Company runs operations.
These movers did not assemble my dresser or even remove it from the shrinkwrap/moving blankets, and more importantly, they put the screws from the dresser legs somewhere where I can't find them. I have the dresser, legs, and no screws as they didn't tape them to the dresser or anything, and I have no idea where they are. I also don't own power tools so I can't assemble them myself to begin with. It's also worth mentioning that they were an hour and a half late to the estimated time given to me, kept packing things that didn't belong to me even though I asked them to only pack the things I point out and not the rest. When I brought attention to this, I was treated as if I were being rude, which I wasn't, I just didn't want my roommate's stuff packed with mine. They cut their stay with me short and told me they had to leave, saying they were 6 hours late for another appointment. I'd really appreciate a partial rebate as I don't think the service I received was worth what I paid for it.
AOA did an excellent job with our move. They were very accommodating when we had to move our date multiple times. Movers showed up on time and were very professional, moved our items with care, and were tidy. Excellent movers at a reasonable price!
Don't hire them they lie and overcharge . I hired them on 11/6/24 to move a one bedroom apartment from Milford to Beverly. I had stated in a text when receiving my estimate that I had two beds, dresser, chest, mirror, nightstand, small tv, tv stand , 5 stools, 2 accent chairs and bags and suitcases . I was quoted a price of 413.00 for 2 hours moving and 1hour and 27 mins travel time. They should up early and started loading the truck at 11:39 they finish packing at 1:30 . They told me that I will see them later. I had to Uber to Beverly which means I left after them at 2:22 and arrived in Beverly at 3:58. I informed the property manager that the movers would be arriving. I called the moving company at 4:03 looking for them . Long story short they wanted to charge me for seven hour of work which was 1,000 instead of 4. I called the police on them because they started recording my apartment and refused to speak to the manger outside of the apartment. Then they sat in front of my building for two hours after the police told them to leave and called me several times asking for payment. When the police instructed them to bill me after they got the facts together . I forgot to add this This business is not BBB accredited. On 09/26/2024 this business's accreditation in the BBB was revoked by the BBB's Board of Directors due to its failure to adhere to the BBB requirement that Accredited Businesses meet and abide by the following standards:
