Woodland Builders is a design-build remodeling company running out of Hanover, on Massachusetts's South Shore, built around whole-home renovations, additions, and kitchen and bathroom remodels. Tripp Woodland, a Licensed Construction Supervisor with more than 20 years in residential remodeling, owns and runs the company, and its Massachusetts Home Improvement Contractor license (HIC #200959) is currently active with the state. The company sits at 4.9 stars on both Google and Houzz, and the story its reviewers keep telling is one of steady, well-managed jobs: clear pricing, kept deadlines, and a job site left clean and protected each day. One client who says they've hired the company multiple times over three years points to fair pricing and 'communication, honesty, and integrity' as the reason they keep coming back, and a recent bathroom renovation and foyer restoration drew praise for a crew that showed up professional, punctual, and courteous throughout. On paper, the awards back that up — several NARI Contractor of the Year wins for residential additions and kitchens, plus a BRAGB PRISM award for outdoor living design. The most recent stretch of reviews isn't uniformly glowing, though. Alongside two strong five-star write-ups this spring sits a detailed two-star account of a five-month project gone wrong — uneven tile work with missing grout, paint that cracked and dripped, doors that weren't hung right, and, more unsettling, windows left open during rainstorms and exterior doors left unlocked overnight. It's a specific enough account that it's hard to wave off, and it's worth asking directly how the company handles on-site supervision and finish-quality checks over the course of a long renovation. A couple of other things worth knowing before you call: the company carries a BBB A+ letter grade but isn't BBB-accredited, which BBB itself notes plenty of businesses simply haven't pursued. And a Houzz listing shows a different street address than the company's own site and its BBB profile, though the phone number, website, and ownership all match — a stale directory entry rather than a different business. For a substantial kitchen, bath, or whole-home project where design coordination matters, Woodland Builders has a real track record to point to. Just push on how they catch finish-quality issues mid-project and keep a job site secured overnight, given the one recent account that raised both.

I’ve worked with Woodland Builders many times over the last three years. Great pricing, quick and easy contract management. Communication, honesty, and integrity are a few of their core values. During construction your job site will be clean and they will make sure to protect your property. True to their deadlines.

I would not recommend this contractor based on my experience. Over the course of a five-month project, there were repeated issues with both workmanship and site management. Windows were left open during rainstorms and exterior doors were left unlocked overnight, raising concerns about basic oversight and security. Several aspects of the work required correction or remain unsatisfactory. Bathroom tile installation was uneven, with visible inconsistencies and areas of missing grout. Painting showed uneven coverage, cracking, and noticeable drips. Doors were not installed properly, and measurements were frequently inaccurate, resulting in repeated rework. In addition, heating and cooling registers were not reconnected prior to closing walls, which has contributed to uneven temperature control in parts of the home. Hardwood floors were not adequately protected during construction and sustained significant scratching. Overall, there were persistent issues throughout the project that made the process stressful and time-consuming. In my experience, the quality of work and level of attention to detail did not meet reasonable expectations for a project of this scope.

Woodland Builders exceeded our expectations in the renovation of a bath and restoration of our Foyer. Every contractor that entered our home was professional, punctual and courteous. The communication, timelines and budget were clear. Woodland Builders took our vision and expedited it to increase the value of our home and improve the functionality of the spaces. We would highly recommend Woodland Builders and look forward to working with them on our next project.
