W.T. Rich Company is a construction manager for public buildings, and it says so directly: its stated vision is to be the best construction manager in the Massachusetts public building sector. The work it puts forward is K-12 schools, higher education, municipal buildings, public safety facilities, historic restoration and life sciences space, procured under the Massachusetts public construction statute, MGL Chapter 149/149A. That makes it the wrong kind of firm for a homeowner. A city hiring a construction manager for a new middle school is the client this company describes; a kitchen, an addition or a roof is not work it offers. The firm traces itself to 1968 and to founder Walter T. Rich, and says it now runs under CEO Jon Rich. It keeps its corporate office in Natick, with branch offices in Beverly and Worcester. Beyond that, very little has been said about it publicly — a 5-star average on Google drawn from three ratings is the whole of it, far too little to judge how its projects actually go. If you are a municipality, school district or institutional owner planning a public building project, this is a firm to talk to about preconstruction and construction management, and to ask for references on a project of the same procurement type and scale. A homeowner should look elsewhere.
