Tony Spahiu's public record splits cleanly in two, and a homeowner should see both halves before calling. In late 2024 he was being passed around by neighbours. A r/SalemMA commenter in October 2024 wrote that he had "just did some work for us and was great," and gave his number; a r/MelroseMA commenter in December 2024 gave the same number and said he had done a lot of work for their in-laws on Florence Street. Two people, two towns, the same phone — that is a real local reputation for small jobs. Then, in June 2026, a Nextdoor neighbour in Melrose posted a detailed warning. Writing under a verified Nextdoor account, they said they had hired him for a bathroom remodel and described dishonest dealing, poor quality work left unfinished, the wrong tile used, plaster and sawdust never cleaned up, damage to walls and a warped wall, old sheetrock dumped in their back yard, and finding him going through kitchen cabinets and drawers in a room he was not working on. The post also states he trades as "In Need of Handyman" and goes by Krenar Spahiu. These are one neighbour's allegations, not established facts, and there is no published response from him. So the honest position is that the earlier praise is for small jobs and the one detailed complaint is about a full bathroom remodel — a very different scale of work. If you are considering him, treat scale as the question: ask for references from bathroom or remodel clients specifically, put the scope, tile selection and clean-up expectations in writing, and stage payments against completed work.
