The company homeowners know as The Energy Monster now answers to a different name. Its site trades as Wattson Home Solutions, run out of Auburn under new owners Heather Cassani and Patrick Burke, doing the work it says it has done since 2008: no-cost Mass Save energy assessments, insulation, spray foam, air sealing, and ductless mini splits. The reviews behind the old name are uniformly good and uniformly old — six ratings averaging 5.0, mirrored across Angi and HomeAdvisor, running from 2012 to 2017. The most useful is from July 2016. A homeowner with fiberglass insulation sagging under a crawlspace wrote that the company evaluated the space, explained Mass Save, recommended a different approach than the one she had called about, then installed fiberglass and foam board and sealed the edges. A January 2016 customer described the part that separates energy work from guesswork: the house was tested before the job, tested again afterwards, and the results shown both times. The freshest word comes from a 2023 r/massachusetts thread, where someone said they had worked with EnergyMonster and that the crew also fixed a bathroom fan that had been venting into the soffit rather than up through the roof. Licensing is where to slow down. BuildZoom lists a general contractor licence, #587, with an expiration date of 07-31-2025; a Home Improvement Contractor registration, #176201, marked inactive; and an inactive Electrical Business licence — and says it could not verify any active licence, which is why the company's BuildZoom score sits at 0. None of those numbers was confirmed against a state registry here. Permit volume points the same way: 171 permits all told, but 28 projects in 2023, 6 in 2024 and 3 in 2025. Both the Angi and HomeAdvisor pages currently carry a "this pro is under review" flag. None of that is a verdict on the workmanship — every written account of an actual installation is positive, and Mass Save weatherization runs through the program's own assessment and inspection process. It does mean the paperwork is worth checking yourself. Ask for the current Home Improvement Contractor registration under the Wattson Home Solutions name, look it up on the state's Consumer Affairs registry, and get the rebate and financing path in writing before anyone opens a wall. A reasonable call for a Mass Save assessment plus insulation and air sealing around Worcester, particularly if a mini split is part of the plan — once the registration question is settled.
“We worked with EnergyMonster and they were great. Even fixed a bathroom vent that was venting into soffit vs straight up and through the roof.”
Energy monster was very courteous, knowledgeable, and went way beyond, they cleaned , and vacuumed after all work was done, I would highly recommend them to everyone...outstanding company , shamus and his crew were awesome.
I needed to replace fiberglass insulation that was anchored under a crawlspace. Energy Monster did an evaluation, told me about the Mass Save program, suggested insulation that would work much better than what I originally contacted them for, and installed new fiberglass and foam board, sealed the edges, and cleaned up afterwards. I'm very happy with the work and will definitely be calling them again next year to add insulation to my attic.
Great people. They put down cloth to protect the floors from their boots. They tested the house before they started the work. They showed me results and explained them. They did the work, tested the house again and showed me the results again. BIG DIFFERENCE! They cleaned up everything afterwards, showed me and explained everything they had done and told me to call if I ever had any questions. Excellent!!
Steve and Chris were very professional. They finished in a timely maner and at a very reasonable price!!
Courteous, professional, pleasant to work with from their home energy audit through project completion, whole process was smooth, they gave me my nstar rebates, pricing was already set by mass save, mass save rep checked their work and was pleased and stated they are one of the best around, highly recommend them
