Sublime Construction has been incorporated in Lynn since January 2011, and its Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 184802, is active and held in the company's own name. The Better Business Bureau grades it A+, though it is not BBB accredited. What is harder to find is anyone who has written about the work lately.
Almost everything customers said, they said a decade ago. In July 2015 an Angi reviewer had someone on site in under 24 hours; another that same month watched the crew work through 95-degree heat to rebuild two front steps at a price they called competitive. A fellow general contractor, writing on HomeAdvisor in July 2015, listed what Sublime did for him — brick repair, concrete, stairs, retaining walls, foundation repair — and said he would hire them again. In April 2015 a homeowner called the spring clean-up the best they had had in five years, having paid three times as much elsewhere for worse results. Two sod installs in September 2015 drew the same verdict: quick, well done, good price. The most recent written note, from November 2023, is a single friendly line.
The work itself has not stopped. Municipal permit records published by BuildZoom show nine projects between 2019 and 2024 across Beverly, Methuen, Danvers, Malden, Newbury, Rowley and Peabody — decks, a retaining wall, roofing, siding and windows, framing, bathroom remodels. Two of those permits are expired, one canceled and one in triage. The 94 BuildZoom shows beside the company is a permit-derived score, not a customer rating; BuildZoom and Houzz both publish no reviews at all.
One thing to weigh: what the company lists it does is a great deal larger than what anyone has described it doing. The directory menus run to new home construction, garage building and design-build kitchens, while the customer accounts are landscaping, masonry, steps and small exterior work.
For hardscape, concrete or landscaping in Essex County, this is a licensed, long-established outfit with a clean if dated set of accounts behind it. For anything bigger, ask for three references from work finished in the last two years and the addresses to go with them — the written history simply does not reach that far forward.
