Seal-A-Deck's name says exactly what it does: cleaning, sanding, staining, and sealing wood decks, plus fence restoration and teak furniture refinishing, for homeowners across the Boston area. The company says it's run by Michael Kaloutas and covers MetroWest, the North Shore, the South Shore, Cape Cod, southern New Hampshire, and Rhode Island. The story that keeps showing up in this spring's Google reviews is a process, not a pitch: clean or power-wash the deck, sand it, then stain it, sometimes across several scheduled visits. In mid-June, one homeowner described the crew cleaning the deck on day one and returning days later to sand and finally stain it. A pool-deck job in April had the crew arrive early, work a full day, then come back over two more days so a new deck extension matched an older, already-stained section. Another April review described a 12-hour day prepping and sanding a rear deck, then returning after rain delays to stain the front deck in two coats. The jobs run through named roles rather than one person showing up alone — one June review credits a consultation with Geoff, coordination from project manager Kerri, and the prep-and-stain work to Danny's crew, and another describes the owner quoting a job from photos and satellite imagery instead of a site visit. That pattern carries through 47 Google ratings sitting close to five stars, and the same praise goes back through their reviews to 2022. Its ratings don't agree across platforms, though: Angi puts Seal-A-Deck at 3.5 stars from 49 ratings, well under its near-five-star average on Google. The Better Business Bureau grades it A+. And the business's address is inconsistent across directories — Newton, Peabody, and Salem, MA addresses all surface for the same name and phone number — worth confirming which office currently covers your area. Seal-A-Deck is the call for a deck that's faded or neglected rather than one that needs tearing down and rebuilding — restoration and refinishing is the job that shows up again and again in its reviews, with an occasional teak-furniture refresh or damaged-board swap folded in. Given how differently Google and Angi rate the same company, it's worth asking a recent customer directly how scheduling and any weather delays were handled before booking.

The workers were on time and very thorough and explained the entire process. On day one they cleaned the deck. Several days later they returned to sand and finally stain. The deck looks great. We are very happy with their work and would recommend Seal A Deck to anyone looking to improve their deck.

I searched Google for deck refinishing, and invited 3 companies to quote refinishing our 30+ year old fir deck. The first 2 companies sent someone to my house to look at the job but one barely spoke English and the other seemed to know nothing about decks and just took pictures and made a few measurements. I spoke to the owner of Seal-a-Deck on the phone and he said he didn’t need to visit the job, but asked for a few photos and said he could take measurements from satellite images. He was extremely knowledgeable and clearly explained the process they use. Seal-a-Deck’s quote was very reasonable and I awarded them the job. The scheduling was very easy and the job was done professionally. The deck and railing look terrific. I would strongly recommend Seal-a-Deck!

We needed to reseal and stain the deck of our meeting house and found Seal A Deck on line. Turned out to be the PERFECT CHOICE! Contacting other companies we found that they maintained decks as part of a larger list of work. Seal A Deck was the only one we found that only maintained and installed decks, period. Their crew was first rate, and were able to work with us on specific time lines and days when the work could be done. Finished product looks amazing, like we have a brand new deck! Our project manager Keri Becker was professional and always available to answer questions and to assist. Over all a great experience! Well done Seal A Deck! We could not be happier

Very pleased with my overall experience with Seal A Deck. They provide an excellent team approach that yielded a very positive outcome, ie, consult with Geoff, handoff and coordination via their project manager Kerri, and spot on performance from Danny and his team with the prep and staining process. The entire team is very professional, polite, and accommodating - a job well done from start to finish!
