There are no customer reviews to read here. What there is instead is a paper trail — and it is a fairly solid one. Rui Costa, trading as Costa's Masonry from Haverhill Street in Methuen, holds a Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, number 191191, that the state registry shows active, and BuildZoom counts 16 permitted projects under his name, nine of them in the last three years. Those permits are the clearest picture of the actual work: bathroom renovations, roofing, siding, steps and retaining walls around Methuen and Haverhill, at a typical permit value near $23,900. That is a shop pulling steady small-to-mid-sized jobs rather than one large project a year. The self-description leans masonry. Its Houzz profile calls it commercial and residential masonry — tile, ceramic, stone and brick — dating the business to 1999, with a service list stretching into kitchen and bathroom remodeling, general contracting, decks, framing and siding, and a stated job range from $250 to $100,000. BuildZoom also lists a Massachusetts construction supervisor licence, CS-112072, and Houzz displays a Master Mason badge; both are the directories' own listings rather than registry checks. Two things to sort out before hiring. The public review history is close to empty — Houzz and BuildZoom show none, and the BBB profile carries a single review excerpt from May 2024 alongside its A+ grade and a note that the business is not BBB accredited. The tenure claims also disagree: BBB and Houzz both date the business to 1999, while the BuildZoom page description cites seven years of experience. For masonry and small exterior work in the Merrimack Valley, the registration and permit history are real and checkable. Ask which of those recent permitted jobs you can go look at, and for references — the internet won't supply them here.
