Every one of Nehemias Landscaping & Construction's 17 Google reviews is five stars, and most of them mention the same first name: Marvin. Based in Lynn and covering North Shore towns — Danvers, Beverly, Melrose, Peabody, and Revere among them, by its own account — the company calls itself family-owned and says it's been doing landscape and hardscape work since 2014. (Its own about page also claims 'over 8 years' and, elsewhere, 'over 20 years' of experience, so the exact starting point is worth taking loosely rather than at face value.) The jobs reviewers describe are almost entirely hardscaping and masonry, not lawn care: patios, retaining walls, brick stairs, stone walls, a chimney rebuild. In the past few months, one homeowner had Marvin's crew rebuild a back patio and front walkway in fieldstone and brick, working carefully around a large mossy boulder they wanted kept in place; another had him patch a garage and stone wall, liked it enough to bring him back for two more walls and a walkway replacement, and said he held to budget throughout. A third recent review describes hand-shoveled snow removal for an elderly relative in Danvers, called punctual and thorough. Further back, the same pattern holds — a chimney rebuild finished on the original quote with no add-ons, a patio project where the crew flagged an unexpected boulder and talked through the fix instead of just billing for it, a stone wall and a neighbor's retaining wall refinished together with fresh topsoil and sod. Across nearly three years and five different sources, nothing in the record describes a missed schedule, a billing dispute, or redo work. There isn't much to flag going in. The Better Business Bureau gives the company an A- rating, though it isn't accredited and the BBB file itself is recent, opened in March 2025. The more practical thing to ask about directly is that tenure question — how long Marvin's actually been doing this — since the company's own site can't seem to agree with itself. For patio, retaining-wall, stone, or masonry work — or a driveway that needs pavers — this is a small crew with a clean, consistent local track record and repeat customers to show for it. For straightforward lawn maintenance or planting design, these reviews don't really speak to that, so confirm scope and timeline for a larger hardscape project before signing on.

We feel very lucky to have found Marvin for small hardscaping project. He listened to our ideas and truly wanted to help us achieve what we wanted - a rustic and substantial look for the back patio, front walkway, and front/sidewalk brick edging. As you can see in the back patio, we want some grass to grow between the nice field stones—it’s getting there! He had to break up a fair amount of ledge. And we asked him to retain a large mossy rock and work around it, which you can also see in one of the pictures. For the whole project, he had the skills, experience, design sense, and supplier connections to do our project on-budget, no surprises. He accommodated us if we asked for a couple small changes, and was always very responsive, and would make sure we are same page when resolving anything. In short, an excellent craftsman, trustworthy person, and fair but tough negotiator. We are very pleased, highly recommend.

Marvin and his crew were excellent. I originally bought his guys in to repair a wall in my garage and fix a small section of stone wall that was failing. We liked their work so much that we asked them to take care of another two walls we had and to replace our front walkway. Marvin did a good job of working with me to keep things in my budget and he was always very responsive when I reached out with questions. The work looks great and I’d be happy to recommend him to others.

Marvin and his crew performed snow removal for my elderly aunt in Danvers for the first time today. They were punctual, thorough and efficient. It is unique to find a service that provides hand shoveling which is the only effective snow removal for her home. They cleared all walkways and the driveway with great care. Thank you

Marvin is a total pro. He removed my old bulkhead and installed a new one and did some excellent masonry work. I highly recommend him.
