Moxie Pest Control runs a branch out of Canton that's part of a much larger national operation, and its Google page tells a split story: a glowing 4.7 stars across 1,598 ratings, alongside a loud, specific minority of complaints that keep repeating the same two gripes. The first is door knocking. A recurring cluster of one-star reviews over the past few months describes sales reps ignoring posted "No Soliciting" signs — one customer called it trespassing, another says a rep argued "I already service your neighbors" when asked to leave. It has nothing to do with the pest work itself, but it comes up often enough to be a pattern rather than a one-off. The actual field work reads very differently. Reviewers name technicians like Adrian, Dante, Charlie, Kaila, and Josh over and over, and the praise is specific: explaining what's being treated and why, texting ahead of arrival instead of ringing the doorbell, leaving photos of completed work, and going back after ants under a porch or a cluster of bee hives. One termite-inspection review describes Josh flagging a concern area and Adrian following through with bait stations and a full walkthrough of the treatment — the kind of detail that points to real technical follow-through rather than a quick spray-and-go visit. The second recurring gripe is contracts and add-on pricing. A couple of reviewers describe long-term service agreements that were hard to exit and service that felt reactive rather than proactive. Two mention being quoted four- or five-figure insulation work tied to rodent control that outside companies later said wasn't necessary — one reviewer says Moxie's own inspector admitted the fix "might not solve actual problem." One customer reports a carpenter-ant issue unresolved after two years and a refused refund; another describes a scheduling mix-up that left a technician three hours late and an interior treatment postponed that day. None of this erases the volume of specific, positive technician feedback, but it's worth going in with eyes open: ask exactly what a quoted add-on (especially insulation or rodent work) is meant to fix before signing anything, get cancellation terms in writing on a recurring contract, and know that uninvited door-to-door solicitation is common enough here that reviewers mention it by name. For routine pest and termite work — ants, wasps, termite inspections — this branch has a bench of technicians people ask for again, which is the steadier signal to weigh against a single star average.

Similar to last reviewer: a solicitor knocked on our door right next to a no soliciting sign and proceeded to give a sales pitch disturbing us from our work day.

SCAM ALERT!!! I should have known better than to go with the company that goes door to door to get sales. I was told that they would be taken care of mice and flies which is what I needed then after signing up I got a contract emailed to me stating nothing about mice or flies just a bunch of things I didn't need. I then called the office was told that I would be given a call back in 15 minutes, once it was sorted out. I waited a half an hour called back and got a message they are closed for the weekend... They took my money promptly.
