Mento traces back to 1973, when John L. Mento turned a Braintree garden center into what's now a full landscape, hardscape, and paving operation. The company is still family-run — his sons John J. and Dan Mento own it today, and John L. himself still works sales and project management. In 2020 the landscape business folded together with a sister company, Mento Homes, to form Mento Corp., which now also handles home construction and real estate brokerage alongside the yard work. Reviewers keep circling back to the same kind of job: patios, walkways, and retaining walls. A client who runs multi-million-dollar commercial projects reviewed the crew this spring as among the best he's worked with, from the first estimate through completion, singling out project manager Jason for being on site every day and the price for being fair given the quality delivered. That review sits inside a much longer run — 21 reviews stretch back to 2008 across seven different sources, and the overall tone across them skews strongly positive. Google, the largest single pool, puts it at 4.1 stars across 45 ratings; Houzz and Angi both show a clean 5.0, though each rests on only a handful of reviews. BBB grades the company A+, though it has never sought BBB accreditation. Two things are worth asking about directly before signing anything. A permit-bond tracking site lists Mento's bond as cancelled, and a separate business-registry snapshot shows no active Secretary of State registration for the company. Neither proves anything is wrong — the 2020 restructuring into Mento Corp could mean an older registration is simply on file under a retired name — but it's worth having the company confirm current bonding and registration status before a contract is signed. This reads like the right call for a hardscape project — a paver patio, a retaining wall, a driveway or walkway redo — rather than routine lawn care, since that's what both the reviews and the company's own history describe. Confirm bonding and registration under whichever entity name ends up on the contract before booking.

I have completed dozens of projects and Mento is at the top. From first interaction / estimate through completion, they are top notch. As a person who runs multi-million dollar commercial projects, this is HARD to find. You get what you pay for! Jason did a great job and was here EVERYDAY and Fernando and crew were meticulous and fast. You can cut price by using subpar products or subpar labor, I am not ready to do either. The price was fair, the communication and quality are the best.

I recently had a paved walkway with two sets of steps and two large retaining walls installed on my property in Weymouth. Dreading the size and cost of a project like that, I was referred by a friend who had told me of what great work they had done on her property, ..I met and worked with Jason and his team who were great! Absolutely outstanding service! The team were prompt professional, and incredibly skilled. From planning to clean up ,their attention to detail and care was evident every step of the way. Very reasonable price and unbelievably all of that was done in three days… Highly recommend Mento Co to anyone looking for top quality work and exceptional customer service, great local company. I am so pleased. Thankyou Debra C

Just had two new sidewalks done by Jason and his team from Mento. They arrived on time as they set. I had a 6 year old sidewalk that was buckling so had called them on several recommendations from friends that had work done by them. They tore up the old sidewalk, regraded the path and laid down a new front and back sidewalk. They squared the front walk with the house (it was originally at an odd angle) and put down new loam and grass side on the areas that were dug up. It came out beautifully! Next up…a new driveway from Mento! Should have had them do my driveway two years ago. Thank you to Jason and all the wonderful folks at Mento! Great job!

Contacted Mento for quote on patio, outdoor fire pit, and misc. landscaping. Jason responded immediately and did assessment. Pricing was reasonable and we were very happy with results - crew was super professional and work was quality. It’s been a few years and everything has held up really well. Jason made solid recommendations re low maint landscape. Would definitely use Mento again and highly recommend.

I am very happy with my experience with Mento. I worked on this project with Jason who was always punctual, professional, and communicative. They also provided a fair a d competitive price for a new walkway. Outside of the price, the quality of work was excellent. The install team removed my old walkway, prepared the ground, and installed the new walkway in just one day. I highly recommend.
