Two hundred nine Google ratings, and the average sits at 4.9 — a hard number to fake at that volume. Mendez Painters Incorporated works out of Wakefield, lists itself as a member of the town's Chamber of Commerce, and says on its own site it has been in business 18 years, covering Greater Boston and the North Shore with interior and exterior painting, carpentry, and power washing. What keeps showing up, review after review, is the prep work. Customers don't just say the paint looks good — they describe the scraping, sanding, power washing, and oil-based priming that happens before a brush touches the house. A cedar-sided exterior job this June walked through the sequence in detail: scrape, sand, prime, two coats, with windows carefully masked off along the way. Another, the same week, covered a deck and front porch — rotten wood repaired, flower boxes rebuilt, siding washed down — before any paint went on. That pattern holds through the most recent stretch of reviews: crews arriving early and working late, clear communication throughout the job, and attention to trim and detail work customers call out by name. One homeowner running a large multi-room interior job — living room, dining room, kitchen, hallway, staircase, three bedrooms — said the crew arrived at 7 a.m. and worked until 6 p.m. daily to finish in three and a half days. It isn't a one-off pattern: the business has been reviewed steadily since 2021 across five different sources, with the tone barely wavering. Two numbers worth flagging before you call: the company's own site says 18 years in business, while its BBB profile lists 10 — worth asking about directly. The BBB grade itself is strong, an A+, though Mendez hasn't pursued formal accreditation there, a status separate from the letter grade. For an older house with failing paint or heavy prep needs — vines grown into the siding, trim that's been neglected for years — this looks like a solid call, since the reviews consistently point to a crew that doesn't skip the scraping and priming to save time. Worth confirming up front: what's covered if wood rot or trim repair turns up once they're into the job, since more than one review describes that scope growing along the way.

We worked with Florentino and his team 8 years ago to paint an old Cambridge triple decker and loved his work. It's great to work with him again this time for another triple decker we live in! His crew was fast, meticulous, and professional. They power-washed the siding, primered window trim and siding patches that are in rough shape. They also fixed broken tiles and bondo'ed exposed wood under broken siding pieces. They finished so fast (4 days) and did great detail work spray painting our trim details to give it a crisp factory-finish. They painted our metal braces / railing and even offered to fix our foundation wall cracks and repaint it (Really glad he helped us knock one more todo item off the list without having to find yet another contractor to fix all the issues with the house). Very talented team, would highly recommend to other homeowners! They work so hard. The crew would show up 6:30am and work straight until 7:30-8:00pm. We wish them every success!

Mendez Painters Incorporated was able to essentially give us a brand new looking home in just a few short weeks. My husband and I were lucky enough to land a home in Melrose but it was basically one of the ugliest homes in town. Not only was the color an ugly brown but the house had not been painted in about 40 years. When we purchased the home there was also a crazy amount of vines on one side of the house that needed to be removed. We took off as many as we could ourselves but Mendez came to the rescue and removed the rest of them for us. Mendez and his crew of dedicated and incredibly hard working men worked tirelessly from 7am to 7pm most days. They did all the prep work first to scrape every inch of the old paint off the house, sanded everything down, pressure washed, primed the house with quality primer and then let it sink into our home for a week. Once all that tedious work was completed they then did even more tedious work of taping off every window and all the trim and every outdoor outlet. That’s when it came time to paint and it was very quick. Our home is completely transformed! Throughout the whole process I really felt like Mendez cared about creating something beautiful for us. They were able to make our home come to life and reach the potential I saw in it the very first time I laid eyes on it. It was ugly but charming but now it’s one of the most beautiful homes on our street. We couldn’t be more impressed with the transformation and we’ve already had so many compliments from our neighbors!! Would highly recommend Mendez Painters Incorporated

Our house was easily the roughest-looking one on the street when Mendez started. The old paint was failing, vines had taken over the siding, and the amount of prep work required was enormous. Mendez didn't take one shortcut. They scraped the entire house, removed years of heavy vine growth, power washed everything, and then waited two full days for the house to dry before applying a high-quality oil-based primer. Instead of rushing to finish, they let the primer cure for a full week before applying two full finish coats of paint. They never rushed the job. Through every step of the way, Mendez communicated with us about everything that was happening. And his crew was at our house from before 7am until it was dark some days. Their patience and attention to detail is exactly why the finished product is so incredible. Our home doesn’t just look freshly painted — it looks like an entirely different house. We’ve already had several neighbors stop to compliment it after just the first day. They can't believe it's the same house. Mendez completely transformed what was the worst-looking house on the street into one of the best. If you want painters who care more about doing the job right than finishing it fast, hire them. I would recommend them without hesitation.

The painters did a wonderful job job at our home. They worked long hours and were very thorough. We couldn’t be happier with the job.
