Méndez Landscaping and Construction works out of East Boston, and the reviews describe a crew hired for full property overhauls, not routine mowing — driveways repaved, retaining walls rebuilt, stone patios laid from scratch. The company's own site says it has served the Boston area for over twelve years, combining landscaping (design, planting, mulching, seasonal cleanup, plowing) with hardscape and concrete work (stone walls, patios, walkways, driveways, concrete stairs). On Google it holds a 4.9-star average across 44 ratings, and the pattern across its 42 reviews since 2022 is largely about big transformations: a June 2026 reviewer describes buying a house with a crumbling driveway, failing entry stairs, and collapsing retaining walls, then having the crew repave the driveway, relevel the yard, and add granite steps and new patios. That kind of full-scope hardscape work, more than routine planting, is what keeps coming up. Not every recent contact has gone as smoothly. A May 2026 reviewer describes reaching out online, getting no response, then a text exchange that trailed off without ever landing a scheduled date — the one real crack in an otherwise strong recent record. Separately, the company's own paperwork tells three different stories about its age: the website claims over twelve years, its Angi profile claims seven, and BBB has it opening in April 2026 with a single employee and no rating yet. None of that reflects on the work itself, but it's worth asking directly how long the crew has actually operated under this name. For a full hardscape rebuild — walls, patios, a driveway — this is a crew with a real track record behind it. Follow up if a first message doesn't get a quick reply, and ask about their history directly rather than trusting any single listing.

Francisco and his crew work magic. When I bought my house it was in bad condition. The driveway was crumbling. The stairs at the entryway and the retaining walls were falling apart. The yard was a mess with construction debris. People used to come up to my front windows and peer in to see the renovations. I initially hired Francisco's crew for small job and felt satisfied enough to have them build my entire outdoor experience. They paved the driveway, leveled the land, rebuilt the retaining walls, put granite front steps, front patio and back patio. They put up a retaining wall along the driveway and fenced the yard. They put sod in the front and back yard and planted bushes. Dirt and water used to come down the mountainside against my garage, a rot risk. They leveled the area around the garage, requiring them to dig stones the size of children 4 feet around the space and built a terrace garden to the left of the garage as well as a walkway of pavers from my deck to around the garage. My friends and family drove past my house because it is not recognizable. I'm posting before and after pictures.

Very poor communication. I made an inquiry online and got no response. I texted him and he ended up responding as I attempted to schedule for that week. I responded with times I was available and I never heard back. I was interested to do a decent amount of work as well. Don't be surprised if you never hear from him.

Mendez landscaping and construction really did wonders with my unforeseen disaster. During a windy night, I woke up to find that my fence attached to 1000 pound stones had fallen over. What a nightmare! This is where Mendez and friends came and saved the day. After agreeing to a reasonable price, he and his crew (and heavy equipment) came out the next day and repaired the wall and fence. I can’t thank them enough for their help. I highly recommend their services!
