Forty-five ratings on Angi and HomeAdvisor, an average of 4.9, and the same line runs through almost every one: the tree came down, and the yard was left cleaner than the crew found it. J. Hernandez Landscaping works out of East Boston, and while its profiles list the full landscaping menu — lawns, bushes, snow plowing, residential and commercial grounds — what customers actually write about is tree work. Juan, whom reviewers name again and again, tends to be on site: a March 2026 customer watched him talk a climber a hundred feet up through positioning ropes so heavy oak limbs would miss the surrounding property, then spend six hours cutting before the crew cleared every piece of debris. Cleanup is the most repeated theme across a decade of write-ups. A 2017 customer wrote that the ground was left with no branches or sawdust anywhere; a 2016 one noted cut branches stacked as firewood at no extra charge; a July 2026 reviewer said the trimmings were completely removed and that he'd send all his future tree work here. Quoting moves fast too — a September 2025 homeowner got a verbal estimate on the visit, a written one after, certificates of insurance in hand, and the job started and finished inside the window promised. Two things are worth knowing before calling. Nearly all of this history sits on Angi and its HomeAdvisor mirror, which publish the same 45 ratings — a long run of praise, but effectively one platform rather than several independent ones. And parts of it are old: twelve of the written accounts predate 2021, so the most detailed stories about the crew are several years back, even as the 4.9 has held. The one sour note in ten years is mild. A May 2016 customer wished the cut material had been hauled away, while calling the work itself sound — worth settling up front whether haul-away is inside the quote or outside it. Its Better Business Bureau page carries an A+ grade. Landscaping-only contractors are exempt from Massachusetts home improvement contractor registration, so nothing turns on a registration here either way. One small wrinkle: the Houzz listing gives a Lynn address where BBB and Angi file the company in East Boston, so ask where the crew dispatches from if timing matters. For a homeowner with a diseased maple, a stump, or an oak leaning too close to the house, this is the small, owner-run outfit those reviews keep describing: quote quickly, cut carefully, leave nothing behind.
Very responsive and professional. He visited to give me the quote on the same day that I called and did the job eight days later. He could have done it even sooner, but happily delayed until the day I requested. The trees were trimmed perfectly, and all the cuttings were completely cleaned up and removed. I will get all my future tree services through him! They provide other landscaping services as well.
Juan was on time and he and his crew where very pleasant. His professional ability was amazing as he guided his man, 100 feet off the ground, where to cut and how to carefully position ropes that would safely guide large and heavy oak branches to the ground so they would not damage any surrounding property. After 6 hours of cutting and pruning this massive Oak tree, they meticulously cleaned up my yard so that there was no debris anywhere. I would hire them again and highly recommend them for tree work.
They did the job right away at a reasonable price, and made some good suggestions along the way. Would definitely hire again!
Juan and his team came out promptly and provided a verbal estimate and timeframe. He followed up with a written estimate, obtained appropriate COI's, and started and finished in the timeframe stated. They went above and beyond by assisting with a downed tree that was blocking a walking path in the woods behind our house. They also cut and stacked some wood neatly in my backyard so that I would be able to use in our fireplace when ready. They even gave me advice on how to prune back a pear tree. Very nice and courteous company, I would highly recommend and call them back for more work in the future.
Very professional. They did a great job at a great price.
